Food is good, but when I asked for one main and one appetizer to come together, I dont expect one arrive after 20 mins of waiting time and the later come after 35 mins without any explanation but servant arrogantly said WE GOT A WHOLE RESTAURANT TO SERVE. This is not a good way to do business.

My wife and I had Jeanette as our server and we were seated by the window near the train tracks. Everything about the experience was phenomenal. I got the ribeye. She got the prime rib. It was ridiculously good. Service was amazing.

Had a wonderful meal. The food was delicious. The Cajun mahi mahi was our favorite! Our server, Rodney, gave fantastic suggestions, had great service, and made it a special trip! The building and ambiance are very unique and made for a fun dining experience.

It's been 30ish years since I was last here. I moved away from MI for a couple of decades. I have fond memories of this place as it was recommended before going to see an orchestra in Ann Arbor when I was in high school. My teacher said it was the kind of place you 'might wear a suit if you have one.' He told me how people will clap when the train passes. He loved the nostalgia. And so did I. Having moved back recently, I researched and found a wine tasting event. 5 courses. A great single California winery pairing. I was blown away at how it still had all the ambiance. People still clap when the train passes. The historic building still feels the same. The head chef has been there for over 30 years. And the food is perfect. The chef came out to tell us about each course. The detail of the microgreen trimmings they use. The truffles they're importing and generously incorporating. The passion the kitchen cooks have came through. Honestly, I can't say enough great things about the place!

As someone who used the frequently go to the gandy dancer it’s sad to see it’s status, it used to have such a great ambience, service, and attention to detail. Last night was probably our last time here, we were seated in a cramped table in between 2 major walkways (our reservations requested their private side seating a week in advance) constantly getting bumped and an almost humorously small table our waitress had to balance things on. It was hard speaking with my partner as we were placed in the middle of several conversations. Our waitress rarely checked in on us or confirmed if we were even enjoying our meals. The almond encrusted Brie was alright however the crostini it was served with was charred to a rock like status, the 8oz filet with I’d say a half scoop of mash potatoes was decent for what it was, the king salmon was also okay. We’ve had a couple less than stellar experiences here but we’re happy to keep coming back after last night Id highly just recommend going to the Whitney.
