History of the Grinder The term "Grinder" can be traced back to the East Coast where during World War I Italian immigrants set up sandwich shops close to the shipyards. Their freshly backed Italian rolls were filled with generous amounts of meats and cheeses, and were then baked and garnished with lettuce and tomatoes. These super-sized sandwiches were a favorite of the hard working men who ground off rivets on the metal warships. The friendly shop owners referred to these men as grinders, and the ever popular sandwiches also came to be known as GRINDERS.

Paid $41 for 2 large pizzas. Unbeknownst to me, they charge $4 extra for EACH topping, and the pizza doesn't even taste that great for what we paid. Won't be returning..., also road was under construction and had to drive around and around just to figure out how to get in.

I had previously lived in Alma for 25 years. So I was very excited to go back for a grinder. We ordered our food and it did not disappoint. However, there was a mistake on our order which was most likely a miscommunication on both sides. The kitchen lady (assuming the owner) came out and essentially chastised us that we owned more money for the correction. Which we were happy to pay as we were not arguing that it was a miscommunication. However, she was not the one who took our order so she does not know if WE miscommunicated or her cashier misunderstood. Either way maybe consider how you communicate with customers instead of making a spectacle in front of the whole lobby. A simple "i think there was a miscommunication and she rang you up for a personal size instead of a 12 inch but just so you are aware there will be an extra charge" would have gotten you "oh no problem" Btw it was a specialty pizza which only comes in 12 or 16 inch!! So how is that my mistake? Then also making sure we gave back the other pizza (we were not trying to cheat you) felt a little like you were accusing us of trying to trick the system. I just was in town and wanted to buy my son a pizza. Lastly, charging an upgrade of $10 for gluten free made that grinder almost $25. Sheesh!
