Tucked between the Maine Mall and Home Depot (and adjacent to Maine Escape Games and Island Dog Brewing), the OTTO on John Roberts Road is South Portland’s best kept secret. With a dedicated parking lot and plenty of seating, this location is a great alternative to food court dining, and a must for pre-movie or post-brewery noshing.

The accompanying image displays the pepperoni pizza; however, we also enjoyed the potato pizza, which was exceptionally delicious.

I was in a few days back, and the kids working behind the counter and in the kitchen need to have a talking to. A young man who I believe is named Kyle was swearing and yelling at the poor girl who was trying her best. I have no idea who made my burned and sloppily thrown-together pizza, but I certainly wouldn't be surprised if it was the obnoxious kids tormenting that girl.

My husband and I are Otto's Pizza lovers. Specifically for their gluten free and vegan options! The best gluten free crust in my opinion, though every now and again we give ourselves a cheat day and I happily suffer for their classic dough and garlic bread :). Gorham location sadly closed temporarily, and this location turned into our go to. The service provided at this location is genuine. Management and staff care very much about the quality of food they serve as well as their service! They will always continue to have our business!

We ordered 6 small pizzas from Otto’s Pizza in South Portland last night and had placed a phone order that was supposed to be ready in 30 minutes. When I went to pick them up, the waitress went to check to see when they would be ready and she said they’d be another few minutes, which was fine. During that time, more people kept coming in and their orders either weren’t there or were going to be delayed by 30 to 40 minutes. The waitress in the front kept going out to check on the orders and the boys in the kitchen kept fighting with her and swearing and would get mad at her for trying to find out what was happening with all the pizzas. After waiting another 20 minutes, I asked for an update on my order and she said they kept messing up the order in the back and had to redo it 3 times. My order contained 4 small cheese pizzas and 2 small pepperoni pizzas so it was NOT a complicated order. There were several people who left because they had waited for almost 45 minutes and their pizzas were still amongst the missing. I’m not sure how many people received the wrong orders that finally left with something. I have to give a lot of credit to the waitress who was trying her absolute best to appease people and was doing all she could to try to get the kitchen help to do a better job.She was in tears because she was so frustrated and I can’t blame her. I would have been also.
I don’t know if I’ve ever witnessed a more poorly run kitchen ever as a customer. There was no one that was managing the complete chaos that was going on back there and it was just that, chaos. We eventually got our pizzas after waiting an additional half hour and even the pizzas weren’t that great. There was way too much sauce to cheese ratio and the pizzas were only half covered in cheese.
I can honestly tell you that I would never order from here again, nor would I ever recommend anyone else to order from there either! I am shocked that they are still in business if it’s always run this poorly. The food is also average at best.
