- NANancy AylesSep 1, 20252.0It was a much nicer store when it was family-owned by people who care about us. It's overpriced, the selection is pretty bad, and 80% of the products are Hannaford brand. That brand is fine for some things but not for everything. I feel like they're forcing us to buy their brand and it isn't that much cheaper than the name brand. The selection of cheese is horrendous. And it all tastes like cardboard. No more artisan cheeses. I can't tell you the number of times my food has been moldy two days after I buy it, or the chicken goes bad 2 days before the expiration date. We're the last stop on the line and that's why you have to pick very carefully through the food to make sure it'll last two days in your refrigerator. And one of the first things they did, was put in many more self checkouts so they don't have to give as many jobs to people in the area. They also took out the customer service desk. What store does that? I will drive once a month to Bangor to get as much as I can from the military commissary. And shop as little as possible at this Hannaford's.
