We are a cute, little cafe in the western mountains of Maine. We like good food. We like the earth. We like the word "ish". We'd like you to come here. Our breakfast menu is small, but delish. We do bagels, breakfast sandwiches, burritos and homemade pastries.
Our Lunch consists of large, inventive sandwiches made with top quality ingredients and love, salads, homemade soups and quiche. We also have a small kids menu.
We make our own chai, real fruit & yogurt smoothies, homemade hot chocolate, Carrabassett Coffee & Espresso & Mighty Leaf tea all day! Come in and enjoy your meal here on a couch, take it to-go or call us ahead of time and we'll have it ready for you!

Great hipster-style café that's very warm and friendly. Everything is painted bright colors with different murals of cats, there's both bar-style seating and regular tables, and they have a separate room for events.
I got the curried chicken salad with vegetables on sourdough bread, and a great lemonade. Meals can come with a side of chips and salsa. Everything is made fresh and there's choices for breakfast, lunch, vegetarians, and people with allergies. Lots of wraps, coffees, sandwiches, chips, drinks, pastries, and soups. They have a set menu but also daily specials. The staff is really nice and can substitute most things on your sandwiches. Will definitely come back!

Across centuries, certain coffeehouses have achieved an unusual distinction: they became places where conversation, argument, and curiosity shaped the intellectual climate of their age. Orange Cat has not yet reached that level of renown - and realistically one would not expect a café in the energetic but hardly world-dominating town of Farmington, Maine to radiate cultural influence on a global scale, whatever the town's respectable place in the state's history. Yet in atmosphere and potential, it already possesses many of the traits that once allowed the great coffeehouses of Europe and America to become small engines of culture.
What remains missing are a few conditions that historically allowed those spaces to flourish as genuine forums of thought. The doors would need to remain open at all hours; the environment would need to accommodate the lingering habits of long conversations - including the old ritual of tobacco; and, most importantly, the house would need to welcome a far broader range of political and social perspectives. At present its atmosphere supports primarily a left-leaning set of assumptions, which naturally limits the scope of the conversations that take place within.
If the space were to cultivate a truly plural intellectual climate - one where disagreement is ordinary and debate is welcomed - the Orange Cat could become a gift more rare than a café: a house of depth, conversation, and rigorous argument. That would be a development well worth seeing.
