This purchase pretty much sums up what Hannaford has become. I bought Ducktrap wild sockeye smoked salmon expecting a basic level of quality. What I got was tough, cottony, and dry, with long fibrous strands that resisted the bite. The texture felt overworked and desiccated, and the flavor was flat and hollow. Lean sockeye can still be supple when handled correctly. This was not. And that is the point. This is not about one bad salmon. It is emblematic of Hannaford as a whole. Over the years, Hannaford has steadily slid downhill. Food quality has eroded, pricing has climbed, and what remains feels optimized for logistics and shelf life rather than actual eating. Products look acceptable under fluorescent lights but fall apart once you get them home. Fresh items are increasingly mediocre, prepared foods are dull and heavy-handed, and premium pricing is now attached to products that would have been mid-tier at best a decade ago. Every Hannaford feels exactly the same, which only reinforces the problem. There is no sense of local accountability, curation, or pride in food. Just standardized mediocrity at inflated prices. If this is the level of quality Hannaford is comfortable charging premium prices for, then the value proposition is gone. I no longer trust the store to deliver anything beyond the bare minimum, and even that is becoming inconsistent. Everything else aside, the pumpernickel bread was very good.

Went in with my kids to get a few groceries and maybe a quick snack or lunch for there hot bar is usually delicious! That we do a few times a month. We go sit in there little sit in cafe spot after we buy, to enjoy! But we couldn't do, today, or last week enjoy are food, do to these people with cart full of there belongings, I could only assume homeless, taking up all the tables and space, with there carts, sleeping, and trash over flowing, with tables being gross. Even taking my youngest to bathroom, and one was in there with there cart, Cleaning them selfs and brushing teeth in bathroom. I also feel like there eating things without paying, and getting other customers to feel bad and buying stuff for them, for how they was talking to each other.. No one should go hungry or cold, but I can say a grocery store is not a shelter, nor should make paying costumers feel uncomfortable . I would hate to see that little sit in go for my kids and I love it a few times a month, but I also feel like they should! For it hasn't been possible, nor enjoyable anymore. I really hope they figure out a solution.

This is our go to grocery store as we really prefer to spend our $ at Hannaford over Walmart. That said the area that is often lacking for us is the produce department. We prefer to buy only Organic produce and prefer to shop on the morning when the store isn’t too crowded. Unfortunately the produce department is often totally wiped out in the morning and it seems that it doesn’t start getting restocked until fairly late in the morning. The best thing about this store is the employee Blake who works in the customer service/self checkout area mostly and is a total gem.
