- JOJoelene “ohhitsjo”Feb 14, 20261.0I had one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had yesterday at Shaw’s in Brunswick while picking up a DoorDash order. The order included a vase and flowers. I saw a vase behind the floral counter with no price on it, so I asked the florist about it. She told me they didn’t have it in stock. I explained that I had just seen it behind her, and she responded that she “didn’t have time to put a price on it.” When I said I needed it for a DoorDash order, she dismissively said, “They’re right next to you,” without offering any assistance. Okay…I thought you didn’t have them? When I placed the vase on the counter to ask about it, it wobbled slightly and she immediately snapped, “If you break it, you buy it.” The tone was hostile and completely unprofessional. I asked if she was always this disrespectful, and she responded that they were very busy. I actually used to work at Shaw’s myself, so I fully understand how busy it can get, especially on a holiday weekend. However, being busy is never an excuse for treating customers with open hostility. This wasn’t just dismissive. It was outright disrespectful and one of the most unpleasant retail interactions I’ve experienced. After that exchange, I didn’t feel comfortable asking her for help with the bouquet listed in the DoorDash order. I had to find another employee, who then informed me the bouquet wasn’t even in stock, despite being listed as available on DoorDash. Inaccurate inventory is frustrating enough, but pairing that with rude and antagonistic behavior made a simple pickup unnecessarily stressful. I expect basic professionalism and courtesy, especially from someone representing the store. The employee eventually gave her name as Ava after hesitating. I hope management addresses both the customer service issue and the inventory inaccuracies on delivery platforms.
