One of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had in my life. The manager is mean and unsympathetic, the employees are not nice and the store overall is very unfriendly. I always do my shopping at Safeway and it is the first time that I've been to this location. Will never come back here.

By far the worst experience I’ve encountered at my local Safeway upon arrival picked up a couple of cupcakes and a cheesecake for her birthday. My significant other had requested for me to purchase the ideal requested arrangement from the flower shop. There was no one at the flower shop I proceeded to go to the register. I was told that it was at customer service. The customer service front desk manager was able to call someone to assist me. A young lady came up already with an attitude. All she asked. What can I help you with? I informed her what I requested if she’s like all we have is what’s there and then I asked her. Are you able to make it? She’s like we don’t make those here they come assembled that way then I proceeded to ask her the price. She rolled her eyes in half I apologize for asking her for help and then all she responded saying it’s fine. This has to be the most disgusting service I’ve ever encountered at Safeway and working in the customer service industry this has by far has got to be the worst management and leadership within this grocery store. Disgusting.

I have had multiple terrible experiences with customer service here. The most recent one being when I came to get some balloons for my son’s birthday at 6PM and a staff member told me that no one else is authorized to fill balloons and I had to come during hours at the floral department which she could not tell me when they were and that no one else was authorized to fill balloons not even the manager. I then called back to talk to the manager and the manager said she could in 30 minutes, but she was busy and then said that her staff member was not lying and that was true. I have had Managers fill balloons for me on multiple occasions at this very store and I just don’t feel like my business is valued so I took it somewhere else. I don’t really appreciate being lied to. I just reminds me why I prefer to shop elsewhere, even though the store is a mile from my house.

I just had an extremely unpleasant experience with Sofia at Safeway at 5510 Norbeck Road in Rockville, Maryland.
Before leaving home, I downloaded two rewards to my card. One was for a free fried chicken. The other was for $7.00 off the purchase of any meat over the price of $7.00. I also downloaded some coupon/deals. I went to the self checkout and used my card which was “accepted.” I scanned the chicken and it showed $8.99 and -$8.99 (that is, the credit). As I was scanning other items, the machine froze. The clerk came over and couldn’t get it fixed so he told me to use a different machine.
I went to another machine and scanned the same card – I only have one. It was “accepted.” As I scanned it gave me the discounts that I had downloaded for “deals,” as it had on the first machine. But it didn’t give me the discount for the chicken or the beef. I called the clerk over and he said that I’d need to go to the customer ABUSE counter.
When I got there, Sofia, the customer ABUSE specialist (living up to her title) continuously told me that I used the wrong “number” when I checked out. I repeatedly told her I had only one card and I used it. Finally, we went back to the first machine and it showed the -$8.99 on the cancelled transaction. Again, she said I must have used a different card. I have ONLY ONE CARD.
Finally, I demanded that she call the manager. The manager, who acted very professionally, used my card and, now, it showed the two “deals.” She said that there must have been a glitch with the machine. But, the entire time I was dealing with the manager, the customer ABUSE specialist, Sofia continued to say, “he used the wrong number before.” Even though the manager asked her to be quiet, she continued her ignorant and insulting recitation.
Sofia should be retrained not to insult customers; to believe them when they tell her that they have only one card; and, to be courteous. If I return to that store in the future and need service, I guarantee I’ll ask for a manager.
