I had a very unpleasant experience at this Safeway today 11/16 around 5:30 PM. While I was using the self-checkout, the self checkout employee ( either a Hispanic woman or African American woman with glasses) assigned to that area suddenly grabbed my items and started entering codes on the screen without asking whether I needed help. When I noticed the price was incorrect and asked about it, she spoke to us in a rude and disrespectful tone. Her behavior was unprofessional and left me feeling upset. Customers should not be made to feel uncomfortable or spoken to rudely, especially when we are simply trying to complete our purchase. I hope management addresses this issue. Thank you.

An Absolute Betrayal of Public Trust: The Decade-Long Horror of Safeway's Restroom Stepping into the public restroom at this Safeway location is not merely an inconvenience; it is a declaration of corporate indifference. This space, which should offer a momentary respite, instead stands as a monument to institutional neglect and a profound disregard for the customer experience. The initial shock wave—the smell—hits you first. It is a thick, cloying miasma that hangs in the air, a toxic cocktail of failure and decay that instantly burns the back of the throat. This persistent stench suggests that for over a decade this facility has known no true cleanliness, only a desperate, cyclical effort to master the smell through cheap masking agents, rather than addressing the root source of the contamination. The design of the room is a poorly conceived nightmare, with chipped, stained tiles and fixtures that have clearly been neglected since the day they were installed. To call this utilitarian space a restroom is a travesty of language. It is, quite simply, a containment unit for the worst hygiene imaginable. The Infuriating Contrast and Unwillingness to Change This is where the neglect becomes a calculated insult. Look just beyond the restroom door: the main store boasts beautiful new walls, polished floors, and modernized shelving—a clear, substantial investment in aesthetics and customer appeal. Yet, for ten and some years, this restroom has been systematically excluded from any form of necessary update or upgrade. This disparity underscores an infuriating unwillingness to make changes and upgrades to the bathroom. It begs the question: Why? Why are new walls in the main aisle deemed essential, but basic human dignity behind the restroom door considered irrelevant? This refusal to invest in the most fundamental aspects of sanitation is a deep betrayal of the implicit trust customers place in a major food retailer. When a store provides a facility in such a flagrant state of disrepair, it immediately raises serious questions about basic food handling and sanitation practices across the entire establishment. This isn't just about discomfort; it’s a failure of public safety. The fact that Safeway has poured money into the cosmetic shell of the store while allowing this essential facility to fester makes the current state of the restroom even more disgusting. It proves that their priorities lie only where the public can see them, leaving the most vulnerable corner of the store to rot in plain sight.

I’d like to report an issue at the Safeway in Redland, Rockville, MD on 11/8 around 9:30 PM. The associate at the self-checkout (Hispanic woman) spoke to us with a rude tone and made us feel like we were a burden when we needed help scanning items. Her attitude and dismissive look as we left left a very negative impression. We were simply preparing for my mom’s birthday, and the interaction really dampened the night. Customer-facing employees should be patient and respectful. I hope this is addressed, as this experience makes us hesitant to return.

This place again has had all these remodeling, but has not once ever remodel their restrooms. What they did okay? Is they painted the door and replace a new wall splash on the outside to make it look like they improved it. The worst thing about these restroom is the unclean atmosphere inside and the wretched smells! It has terrible caulking and they never have any paper towels. I do not understand how they can get away with this travesty?!?
