I recently went to this store and got blatantly profiled. The security guard followed/harassed me everywhere I went; all of my shopping and checkout. The associate working at the checkout was also heavily surveilling me. I’m a younger Black woman who just wanted to shop for groceries in peace. I don’t feel safe to shop here and will avoid in the future.

Well stock from A to Z, good parking, and easy check out options.

Way to few registers so I went to self checkout which stilll had a 4-5 minutes wait in line. The self checkout machines are close to the worst I've ever experienced, with extremely glitchy barcode scanning and slow weight scales. Food options were good and I went to the store several times because I was traveling for work, but if I had any other option I would never go to a giant again.

***EDIT*** The manager from Giant reached out to me to discuss the situation and assured me that the issue is being addressed and that staff will receive additional training. I appreciate the prompt follow-up and willingness to resolve the matter, and I’m updating my review to reflect the store’s response and efforts to improve. ***** Original: I normally do not leave reviews unless an experience truly warrants feedback. I also will not include the associate’s name because, although she was in the wrong, my hope is that she learns from this experience rather than being reprimanded. Hopefully she reads this and knows who she is. On December 22nd, I visited this grocery store and used the self-checkout. After paying for my items, I began placing them back into the hand basket, as many customers do. I chose not to purchase a paper bag because I had reusable bags in my car and planned to transfer the items there. As soon as I placed one item into the basket, an associate rushed over, grabbed the basket, and firmly told me “no,” stating that I could not use the basket and needed to purchase a bag. I was initially shocked and began removing the item, but then realized what had just occurred. I was being told that I must buy a bag. It felt as though the associate was frustrated that I had not purchased one and decided to take that frustration out on me. I calmly asked why I could not use the basket when customers are allowed to leave the store with carts, as the function is essentially the same. She responded that they were “collecting the baskets” and again insisted that I get a bag. I declined and said I would continue using the basket. She then asked, in a condescending manner, what I planned to do with the basket when I was finished. I replied that I would bring it back. The entire interaction was unnecessary and unprofessional. I was treated like a child, and it felt as though the associate projected stress and aggression over something very simple. I understand if the store wants to limit baskets from leaving the building, but if baskets are offered to customers, just like carts, there should not be arbitrary restrictions that result in confrontations. There are simple solutions to this issue. Have the cart attendant return baskets, provide more baskets if supply is limited, or stop offering baskets altogether and require carts only. What should not happen is associates being put in a position where they feel compelled to argue with or police customers over such a minor issue.

Employees are always friendly and happy to help. They have a large self checkout area and usually enough cashiers. The store is always clean and well stocked, with the new renovations reminiscent of Wegmans style. They have a good selection of organic and non dairy/gluten free items as well as a ton of conventional food. The prices are comparable to most large grocery stores, which are pretty high. Walmart, Target and Amazon Fresh across the street has a bunch of the same things for $1 or more less on their everyday prices. Overall, it's a good one stop shop for everything you need in a grocery store, esp if you have special dietary requirements.
