  I’ve had good experiences here before, but this visit really missed the mark. We were seated outside, and there was a guest openly smoking a weed pen at his table, blowing smoke into the surrounding area. What made it worse was that both servers and a manager clearly saw it and didn’t address it at all, which made the environment uncomfortable. On top of that, the service was unusually slow. Our server was mostly absent—we didn’t even get a drink refill the entire time. The only time things moved quickly was when I asked for the check, and it was clear he was ready to process the payment right away. I usually enjoy coming here, which is why this experience was disappointing. I hope this was just an off day and that management takes situations like this more seriously in the future.

  We went to Guapos at RIO in Gaithersburg yesterday for a birthday dinner celebration and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience with the hostess service. When we arrived, we were told the wait would be 20 minutes, then later we were told 15 minutes. We remained right outside where the hostess could clearly see us the entire time. After 15 minutes passed, we checked back in because we noticed she continued seating other families, including one with the same number of people as our group. She seemed especially friendly with them, almost as if she knew them. When we asked again about our table, the hostess claimed she had texted us. We showed her that we had never received any message. While we were speaking with her, the manager came over. By that point, we had been waiting nearly two hours. The manager was very apologetic and showed us the reservation system. She explained that when guests are contacted, a box in the system is checked. The box next to our name had not been checked, which confirmed that no text had actually been sent. I explained that the hostess had not been truthful when she said she contacted us. The food was very good, the manager handled the situation professionally, and our waitress, was excellent. However, because of the poor hostess service, lack of communication, and what appears to be inadequate training, we will no longer be giving Guapos our business.

  Melissa was rude and made my experience at this establishment very uncomfortable. From the moment I was seated, her attitude toward me felt negative and unwelcoming. When she brought my order to the table, she made racist remarks out loud and would laugh every time she walked away. I could clearly hear her making comments to her coworkers that felt directed at me. It was extremely disrespectful and upsetting. It was obvious she did not want to serve me, and she approached my table with a nasty attitude each time. Her behavior made me feel singled out and uncomfortable throughout my visit. No customer should be treated this way. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses the situation so it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

  This review is for Melissa the bartender. I had a very disappointing and uncomfortable experience at this establishment due to the bartender, Melissa. From the moment I was seated, her attitude toward me felt negative and unwelcoming. When she brought my order to the table, she made dismissive and offensive comments to her coworkers that I could clearly hear. It felt like she was making fun of me, laughing, and speaking in a way that was disrespectful and inappropriate. Her behavior came across as discriminatory, and it was obvious she did not want to serve me. She approached my table with a nasty attitude and made the entire experience unpleasant. No customer should feel singled out or disrespected like that. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses the situation so no one else has to go through a similar experience.

  I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Guapos—especially as a parent. My son was served raw chicken tenders from the kids menu. He had already taken a few bites before I noticed something was off. The chicken looked pale, and when we checked it more closely, it was clearly undercooked—completely unacceptable and frankly dangerous. What makes this even worse is that this is the SECOND time this has happened to us within a year at this restaurant. That shows a serious issue with food safety and kitchen standards. We spoke to the general manager, who apologized and said she spoke to the chef. While we were given a $40 discount and a $100 gift card, that does not make up for the fact that my child was served raw chicken—not once, but twice. This isn’t about compensation, it’s about basic safety and trust. Serving undercooked chicken is a serious health risk, especially for children. This should never happen, let alone repeatedly. I cannot recommend this location to families. Please take food safety seriously
