  I went with a group of four on a Saturday night. The restaurant had a couple of 10-people parties, but was otherwise not full. The food was mediocre and the service was truly terrible. After being seated, it took more than 40 minutes for us to be served anything -- bread or wine. After we ordered, the food didn't take that long to appear, but it took a very long time for them to clear the dishes. Dessert also took a while. The dishes themselves were disappointing. The broth in the Caldeirada á Ponta-Gorda was watery and had little flavor. The seafood was good. The Arroz Valenciana was bland despite having the spicy sausage in it. If it hadn't been for our conversation, we would have been incensed by the lackluster food and service. As it was the meal took more than three hours and disappointing. The decor of the restaurant is dated and needs refreshment. Also, if you're going to make people sit in chairs waiting for hours, they shouldn't be as hard.

  We booked a corner table for an anniversary dinner and the experience was everything we were hoping for. The candlelit setting, the wine, the unhurried service. Tavira does this kind of evening well. The grilled branzino we ordered was delicate and perfectly cooked.

  The Bacalhau Cremoso lived up to everything people say about it. Silky, properly seasoned, and generous with the portion. As someone who has had the real thing in Lisbon this version holds up well. The kitchen understands what the dish is supposed to be.

  The atmosphere here does the heavy lifting alongside the food. Candlelit, quiet enough to actually have a conversation, and the Friday night guitar adds something that most restaurants in this area simply don't have. We've started treating this as our go-to for anything that needs a proper setting.

  Had a private event here for a small work group and the team managed it well from start to finish. The menu options were thoughtful and they were flexible about adjustments. The side room setting made it feel like a real dinner rather than a corporate function. Several colleagues asked me where I found the place.
