I used to love Five Guys around when it first came out and I didn’t mind paying a premium price because the food was just that darn good. I don’t know if there are just better options out now, that the chain has gone downhill, or if it was just this location but I was highly underwhelmed.
I spent over $18 for just myself and I got: a little hamburger, little fries, and milkshake. Wowza! The little burger was dry and so thin that it felt like I was eating mostly bread with huge chunks of lettuce. It had a great flavor, but these days so do many other burger chains— and I don’t *need* to buy a double burger to feel full. I was still hungry after that so I moved on to the fries.
The fries were so many, overflowing into the bag. Great, right? Except they were all overcooked with that unfortunate grease-hasn’t-been-changed-this-decade flavor. You know the one where the fries are a deep brown instead of golden, even before the Cajun seasoning goes on.
And the shake, which I spent nearly an extra $4 on, was a basic vanilla (tastes similar to a simple Turkey Hill) with Oreo crumbles. Again, this was suitable back in 2012 when there weren’t as many options. But it was all just bland and boring. Maybe I’ve just had some stellar milkshakes since I’ve last been here but it certainly wasn’t special enough for the price. The chocolate Oreo shake at Burger King is somehow better?
It was all just a great reminder that some things are better left in the past. I won’t be coming back, at least not to this location.

This food was amazing. It was fresh and made to order. I’m not sure if I’ve ever had Five Guys as good as this one. Everyone was super friendly and the store is very clean. I’d definitely recommend. Thank you Keith, Adrienne and Tyrese!
What is the Five Guys story/How did you guys get your name?
Five Guys began its pursuit to redefine the global burger landscape in 1986 when Jerry and Janie Murrell asked three of their sons whether they wanted to start a business or go to college. Now, three decades after our first location opened in Arlington, Va., Five Guys – a fast-casual restaurant chain named for the Murrells' five sons – serves a classic take on hamburgers, fries and milkshakes in more than 1,700 locations across 24 countries.

How many restaurants does Five Guys have?
As of January 2026, we have more than 1,900 locations in over 24 countries!
Does Five Guys offer delivery?
Most North American locations offer delivery. The best way to find out if the location nearest to you offers delivery is to visit our website or download the app.
Additionally, we work with all major third-party delivery companies in the U.S., including DoorDash and Uber, so feel free to search for Five Guys through their platforms!
Does Five Guys offer gluten-free options?
The only products we offer that contain gluten are our buns, hot dogs (Canada only), HP sauce (UK only), and the malt vinegar condiment for our fries. In Canada, our Poutine Gravy condiment also contains gluten. All of our sandwiches, including burgers, hot dogs and the veggie sandwich, are available without a bun via our wrap or bowls.
While our crew members do all they can to avoid it, there is always a risk of cross-contamination. Please review our nutritional, ingredient and allergen chart for the most accurate information.
Why does Five Guys have peanuts for free?
Serving peanuts for free began as a way for people to pass the time while they waited for us to cook up their meals (way back in the day, before smartphones). It was such a hit, and has become such a Five Guys tradition, that we keep our stores stocked with peanuts to this day.
What is the best way to reheat leftover fries?
Leftover fries are excellent reheated in the oven (or Air Fryer). According to Chad Murrell, one of the Five Guys, just pop them in a 350-degree oven for about 10-15 minutes.
Also, give those leftover fries a try as hash browns, home fries, or even as the filling in an omelet.
Why is Five Guys switching from a fry cup to a fry bag?
We are switching to fry bags to ensure your fries stay fresher and as part of our larger commitment to the environment. The bags allow air to circulate better, so fries stay fresh during delivery and takeout. Same portions, same great fries – just smarter packaging that’s also better for the environment.
