The cashier told me my card was declined and immediately called over a manager to intervene. I asked why and she said that if a card declines it's their policy. I asked why again and she said so people don't steal their cart of groceries. She didn't want me to swipe my card again but I did since I knew it was a read error and not a decline. As the manager stepped up, my card ran successfully and the cashier said we were actually all set. By this time loss prevention was sticking their head out of the office looking at us. I don't appreciate being treated like a thief when the card just failed to read. You're going to lose more money by treating customers like this than the random person who tries to run out with a cart of groceries. If someone was really going to do that, why would they even go to the cashier first? Absolutely absurd.
