I am kind of a picky person but there is nothing to complain about here. The service was great and the food was even better. We received great recommendations from our waiter from start to finish.
I loved it here! It was so fun on Saturday with the dancing and music.
The food was absolutely amazing. My boyfriend is from Belarus and he hasn’t had these foods in 7+ years. He said it is much better than he remembers it.
I loved my chicken with mashed potatoes. It was so fresh and delicious. It was my first time trying Olivier and it was one of the best things ever! ❤️
I hope to come back again one day.

We had a really great dinner at Café St. Petersburg. The food felt very authentic and homemade — the borscht and pelmeni were especially delicious, and the beef stroganoff was one of the best I’ve had in the Boston area. You can tell the kitchen cares about the quality and presentation.
The staff was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere felt warm and lively. It’s also nice that they have different vibes depending on the night — relaxed dinner during the week and more energetic on weekends.
Overall a great place for Russian and Eastern European food. Definitely worth visiting if you’re in the Newton/Boston area.

everything was absolutely fantastic. we have not had a dining experience remotely close to the one we had here. our server, ilya, was amazing!! extremely nice and provided context on some menu items; he even gave us recommendations when a few items were unavailable. he remembered everything we ordered, drinks included without needing to write it down (and we ordered a lot). we just had to try a variety of dishes of course. the solyanka and borscht were spectacular, served with shots of horseradish vodka and honey pepper vodka. i didn’t know there were pieces of meat in the borscht, but was pleasantly surprised by it. the solyanka has more meat, so it was definitely the heavier of the two. the creamy mushroom soup was ok, we got that instead of the mushroom risotto because they were out and it wasn’t as flavorful as the other dishes. the pâté was creamy and had perfect balance with the thin crackers, honey and flaked salt. the hand pies were very unique and equally balanced. i’d recommend the cabbage and meat ones specifically. the chicken kiev was juicy and flavorful and paired nicely with mash and peas. the plate of pelmeni was bountiful and delicious; reminded me of tortellinis by the appearance of them but were in fact small savory dumplings. the braised oxtail was also very savory, and the potatoes soaked up the flavor well. all served with brown bread, which greatly excited my father when first served by ilya. it was very generous of him to present us with a piece of honey cake and a black cherry vodka shot each to celebrate my father’s birthday at the end too. i wish i took more photos, but before we finished our meal it was already decided we had to come back again in the future.

We’ve been going to cafe SP for over 20 years. In fact I had my second date with my Russian husband (I’m American) at the original place in Brookline village. We’ve always been loyal bc the food was honey and my husband always needed his fix of Russian cuisine. I can’t say how impressed I’ve been by the new owners food!! It seems refreshed and the food is absolutely delicious. From the cranberry infused vodka, Borscht, Blini and finally to the syrnitki (sp?) dessert everything was yum!! Also they have music and great singers on Saturday nights. The waiters are so kind, professional and capable. Just know it’s not usually a quiet place. Russians like to party.
