Food was excellent. Service was excellent. Warm, welcoming environment. Be forewarned..very pricey. $8 lemonade..$32 for a very simple bolognese. Your bill will include a 4% Kitchen Appreciation Fee which you are NOT required to pay in Massachusetts. (See below)
Management please note..the reputation of the establishment is only as good as your kitchen staff.
Current Rules for 2026
• Mandatory Inclusion in Menu Price: Restaurants can no longer add a "kitchen appreciation" fee as a surprise line item at the end of a bill. All mandatory fees must be incorporated into the total menu price listed for each item.

We went as a group of 4. We got a small table closer to the entrance to begin with. We looked forward to finally having dinner at Buttercups. We had made a reservation and I think it's important that you make one. The place looked busy. The drinks were good, the server was busy and alright ( kept it to the point since he was busy) and the service was moderate.
At times we had to wait 15 mins to get a drink refil or just salt and pepper.
We ordered the chortoree board- the ratio of cheese to meat was unbalanced - very little cheese, too little meat and my companion and I agreed that there was not nearly enough on the board for it to be worth $35.
For our meals we ordered the fish, stake, risotto and the food was great.
I had Bolognese pasta which was great. All and all it was a good meal but the prices were a lot. We ended up paying $120+ per person ( with alcohol ) and I am not sure if it justified the ambience, food and the service.

My partner and I had the most lovely dining experience at Buttercup tonight! From start to finish the service, food, drinks, and atmosphere were exquisite. Our waiter, Al, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu and coursed our food perfectly. We enjoyed the beat salad, bavette steak (special), and french onion soup (special), short rib, and bolognese–and each dish was balanced perfectly (flavor, texture, and visually). The chef, Dora, came out to chat with us, and her passion for creating this incredible food was so apparent and wonderful. I couldn't recommend Buttercup more!

Very decent food, and the service is just right -- attentive but not hovering. Brownie points for not playing loud music -- you can talk there.
