I chose self checkout because the regular register line was very busy, and there is one employee who is consistently rude and never smiles, so I wanted to avoid another negative interaction. While I was scanning my items, she came over and stared at me. I then overheard her whisper to another employee to “watch her for stealing.” I was extremely offended by that comment. I paid $325 in groceries at self checkout and did nothing to warrant that kind of suspicion. Being scrutinized and gossiped about like that felt disrespectful and derogatory. As a loyal, paying customer, I expect to be treated with basic courtesy. Because of this experience, I’ve decided to shop elsewhere, such as Market Basket, where the customer service is much better.

I went to customer service to ask them to announce it was missing if someone found after they let me know they didn’t have it. They refused to help out by announcing. I will never step into shaws again.
