Wish I could give no stars. Went in to get salad Fixings and chicken Not only was the man working at the counter disrespectful to women, when the manager questioned him he told he he was going what I had asked 10 minutes before to do but refused. Then would not answer me when I asked a question and stated that I should ask the manager to answer for him. Walked out and did not buy anything. Went to Shop and stop and the same basket of groceries cost at least $5.00 less.

Dear Star Market Brookline Management,
I have been a loyal customer at this location for over 15 years, as I live in the neighborhood and shop here regularly. Everyone has always been friendly and helpful—except for my experience today.
On November 7, 2025, around 1:52 PM, I was using the self-service checkout and accidentally tapped my credit card before selecting the payment type. The screen then showed that the payment was cancelled, but I never cancelled it myself.
I called for assistance, and a female employee with short hair came to help. Instead of listening to my explanation, she kept saying, “You cancelled the payment” and “The system doesn’t lie.” Her tone was very disrespectful, and I felt as though I was being accused of trying to steal. If I had intended to steal, I could have simply walked out while she was chatting with her colleague and not paying attention—I actually had to raise my hand to get her attention.
I was very embarrassed and disappointed by how I was treated. I have always enjoyed shopping at Star Market, but after this incident, I no longer feel comfortable returning. I truly hope no other customer will have to go through a similar experience.

I live close by and frequent the store often. Hygee is the backbone of the store. It is noticable when he is not present. Joe is a fantastic staff member and always pleasant to deal with. There's also a slightly older African American woman whose name I don't know, she is fantastic, very efficient.
My main gripe with this store is the lack of enforcement when it comes to animals in the store. It's a regular thing that there will be a very obviously non service dog in the store. Emotional support dogs are not ADA protected and should NOT be in a grocery store. Literally yesterday, I walk in and first thing I see is a little tea cup terrier riding in someone's cart in the produce section. This is not okay. That is not a working dog and does not belong in a grocery store.
I also think the store manager guy is kind of a dink and isn't the best leader. I never see him do ANYTHING. N honestly without solid staff like Hygee n the older, dark haired daytime lady that runs the service desk, that store would fall apart.

This place is awesome, good location and parking. But sometimes I found mouse and a bad smell in the fish area
