I wish I had good things to say about Reunion. It looked like it was going to be a hit. However, for starters, our poor server. He was the only server working that night and, while things were relatively slow (4 tables) he was clearly in over his head. On top of being the only server, we have reason to believe (maybe misguided, but still reason) that he was the ONLY employee that night. We say hide nor hair of anyone working bar or kitchen. However, that doesn't really excuse how, well, snotty our server was. He wasn't a complete jerk or anything, but snotty is the right word. Like, he started getting into a back and forth with me about the tea for some reason. Very strange already, but he was clearly stressed. When I and my buddy opted for Diet Coke instead (with our customary no ice) he, of course, came back with ice. No biggie, just a quick "oh, sorry, we ordered no ice" quickly met with a "no you didn't" and another attempted back and forth. Like, come on man, by that time there was only one other table, it's not that hard to redo our drinks... I have sensitive teeth. The food came out cold as well (by the time it came out we were the only table and over an hour until close) which is one of the reasons we think we was also the only employee on back of house too. The food wasn't great, and certainly not for the price. If it had been hot (or even warm) that may have been different, but I will never know. None of us were impressed but we didn't complain or anything. We weren't about to be jerks to the guy doing his best. The door also kept staying open causing the restaurant to get cold every time someone left, which, after 7 or 8 min, one of us would have to close it. Plus all of the AI graphics on the displays and promotional material. Come on guys, do we really want our meal with a helping of environmental distraction and IP theft? Also, Boston is a town with incredible cornbread wherever you go. Apparently not here. Dry and disappointing. Closer to Southern corn bread than Northern. Incredibly disappointed. For a place at this price point we expected so much better.

Tried it out lastnight while visiting Boston with my husband and two teens. Food was great! Burgers. Coleslaw, wings. Mac n cheese. Pulled pork, brisket, everything! Price was right and the Music was fun! The wait for our food wasn't long at all! Wait staff we loved!!! Highly recommend! We will be back when we visit Boston again! 🤘

Jose was amazing! The atmosphere was beautiful. My husband and I was able to get seated immediately. The food was amazing. Even though I had a seafood allergy him and the cook were able to accommodate me in the best way and I still was able to have an All-Star experience. I received the chopped Boston salad and it really blew my socks off! If you are in the area, do not hesitate to try this place it literally lives up to name, a reunion. Also, if you live in the area, they have a lot of functions and promotions posted here every day.

Just a random visit after looking thru Google maps from hotel. Close proximity with good reviews (I think 4.8 stars it was?). I was a bit disappointed with the lobster rolls at the Market place so, figured would try something completely different. Legit BBQ here. Great beer and cocktail selections as well. Highly recommend if you're in the neighborhood here. 👍

Boston has never been a barbecue town. This is a city built on oysters, chowder, brick townhouses, and Italian bakeries in the North End. Barbecue traditionally belongs somewhere else—Texas, the Carolinas, maybe Kansas City if the sauce is sweet enough. For years, the barbecue that arrived here tried very hard to pretend it came from those places. Lone Star flags on the wall, pitmasters speaking reverently about central Texas like it’s sacred ground. It was imitation more than identity. That is why Reunion BBQ stands out. The restaurant isn’t trying to be Texas barbecue. Not really. And that honesty is exactly what makes it work. Instead of copying Southern barbecue culture wholesale, Reunion takes its fundamentals—smoke, patience, respect for meat—and lets Boston shape the rest. The tray arrives the way barbecue trays always do: butcher paper, thick slices of brisket, ribs, pickles, and a couple of comforting sides. But taste it and you notice something different. The brisket carries smoke without shouting about it. In Texas, brisket can sometimes feel like a competition entry—big, loud, and unapologetically macho. Here, the smoke feels measured, almost thoughtful. The meat is tender, the fat rendered into that silky texture that reminds you why brisket became legendary in the first place. The ribs are peppery and structured, tender but not collapsing. Proper barbecue that still remembers it came from an animal and not a slow cooker. Then come the sides. Mac and cheese with a buttery crumb on top. Mashed potatoes that feel oddly at home here, quietly echoing New England kitchens. Bright pickled onions cut through the richness like a splash of cold Atlantic air. It’s barbecue, but it carries the temperament of Boston: balanced, careful, a little restrained. The room reinforces that idea. Instead of cowboy theatrics, Reunion feels like a neighborhood whiskey bar that happens to take barbecue seriously—long wooden counters, shelves of bourbon, televisions quietly playing the game. It’s relaxed, urban, and unmistakably local. And maybe that’s the real point. Barbecue purists love to argue about authenticity, but American barbecue has always evolved wherever it lands. Texas doesn’t cook like the Carolinas, and Memphis doesn’t cook like Kansas City. Why should Boston pretend otherwise? Reunion BBQ seems to understand that traditions survive not by being copied, but by being interpreted. The restaurant borrows the soul of Southern barbecue—smoke, fire, patience—and expresses it with a distinctly Northeastern voice. The result isn’t Texas barbecue. It’s Boston barbecue. And that might be far more interesting.
