  The supermarket has a very nice environment, but the prices are generally on the higher end and not very affordable. The supermarket targets high-end consumers. Quality control is handled very well.

  *Rude and Unprofessional Behavior from Employee at Pickup Counter* I’ve always liked shopping at Star Market, but today’s experience was truly disappointing. When I went to pick up my online order, Jerod (employee at pickup) treated me with open annoyance and disrespect from the moment I approached him. He sighed loudly, rolled his eyes, and leaned forward as if I were bothering him—before I even finished saying I was there for my order. When he asked for my ID, I kindly explained that I had my school ID since I forgot my wallet. He rudely refused without any explanation and spoke to me in a condescending tone the entire time. I showed him my app with the order number, but he continued being dismissive. After several minutes of uncomfortable back and forth, he finally said my order required a state ID for alcohol or medication—which made no sense, since I only ordered green juices and vegetables. Turns out, he was looking at the wrong customer’s order the whole time. Instead of apologizing sincerely, he just said, “Oh, sorry,” handed me my bag, and immediately turned to the next person without even making eye contact. I tried to tell him that next time he should double-check the customer name before acting that way, but he ignored me completely. No one deserves to be treated with that level of disrespect, especially when the mistake came from the employee. This was a frustrating and humiliating experience, and I truly hope management sees this review and addresses the behavior of their staff.

  First time shopping here. Love the idea of having a big supermarket in a city, so I wasn't expecting perfect. But the selection isn't great, and, more surprising, the automatic checkout machine tried to overcharge me. When I asked staff about it, they told me off for "wasting their time", even when they agreed the machine price was wrong. Sorry but a 20% overcharge makes a difference to some people. I'd prob give it 3.5 stars for quality and 1.5 for customer service. So 2.5 seems right. ADDENDUM: I was so impressed with Star Market's quick response to my feedback that I decided to give it another go. Sadly, I met another employee who didn't care. I wandered into the store, needing some help to find an item. When I asked, "Do you know where the XXX is?" the employee at first did his best to ignore me. Naively thinking he didn't hear me, I moved closer and asked again. This time, he answered "No clue" and went back to ignoring me. Our awkward exchange was witnessed by other customers. I eventually found what I needed, but my original rating seems right for now. I'll try to check back next time I'm around, but hopefully the agent writing Star Market's responses can produce some positive changes soon.
