Now there are double-digit self-checkout lanes and maybe one worker, not assisting, just watching. It feels less like customer service and more like surveillance. On top of that, prices on many items are 30% higher than competitors like Market Basket, so you’re paying more to do the work yourself while being treated like a potential thief. Their slogan used to be “It’s time to Stop & Shop.” New Slogan recommendation: “Stop & Shop, you do it.”

When checking out, the staff went from two to one, which would have been fine if the cashier had helped at ALL and paid enough attention to not let out watermelon ROLL onto the bakery bread. Will avoid at all costs. Tdlr: Poor staff, molding produce, and limited produce.
