Prices are so high. I came in for 8-10 things and only picked up my most necessary 2 items. My deodorant this is 7.49 was 8.99 here. Just an example. Crazy. I will not return and I have other closer and more reasonably priced options. It's really too bad because growing up as a kid in Lexington, our only grocery store was Stop & Shop. I'm not sure what's happened through the years, but they have become more expensive than Shaws even. Two stars only because they do have a selection.

The young man working in the deli section is rudely aggressive.. he should not be working in a customer service role the way he interacts with people. He has shouted at me every time I place an order. I'm going to stop going to this store if I need to go to the deli just to avoid him.

The self checkout line starts directly across from the self checkout (where the magazines are) please stop trying to cut the line. Thanks

Although this is the store that made me a habitual date-checker, with more than a couple of ruined meals, I've never reviewed it. Convenience is what it's got going, with a few nice, longer term employees. Tonight was a contrast. Greeted cashier with a smile. Nothing. Smiled and told him to have a good night. Didn't even look up to acknowledge me. Drove home, one of my items wasn't in the bag. Drove back. Approached him with receipt. Said "Hi," and explained. He reached under belt, plopped bottle in front of me, I said "thank you," he ignored me, then turned back around. I left there litterally sputtering to myself. Forget apologies for any role he had in the inconvenience. Just be reasonably pleasant and cordial, particularly when a customer engages you first in that manner. Tired? So am I. You work with people. It doesn't take any effort to smile and be human.

Had a terrible experience at the Amesbury stop and shop tonight on 12/8/25 .
I work long hours in healthcare and needed to grocery shop after work for a few things . Arrived at the store at 8:15 pm. Saw one cashier standing there at a register but her light was off. I was forced to go to self check out. All was ok, until I scanned the milk I was purchasing, and it leaked all over me and on the register. Another female employee manning the self check out literally ignored me as the milk leaked everywhere. I believe she was more interested in her cell phone. I asked her for help. I was the only customer there . She told me I could "go get a new milk". She couldn't of gotten it because that would of been to much to ask apaprently!?!? I had to literally run to to the dairy dept as my transaction sat there (with milk all over me.) I came back and another employee told me "if she could help me clean it up she would. " I looked to my right and had to grab the papertowels and spray cleaner sitting right there and clean up the mess myself that was all over the register and the scanner , instead of the employee "actually working there , getting paid."
Nothing but sheer laziness and NOT caring at all.
On top of that , some of the produce looked bad. Limp, sad, parsley and the green peppers looked old and shriveled. I only go to this store out of convenience, not because I enjoy shopping there.
I won't in the future. Not worth the aggravation and the customer service is sadly pathetic and laughable.
It truly was inexcusable treatment I received at this store. I was so upset and mad that I felt compelled to write this bad review . I worked in retail for several years and retail store management. I also worked in grocery stores in my younger years . I would have never of treated a customer like that. The trend of self checkout is seriously lacking in customer service and the scanners are not user friendly. Atleast at Market Basket you get an actual cashier.
