I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. While our server was polite, the overall service was far from acceptable. Refills were inconsistent, as some people at the table received them while others did not. There were also several issues with our order. One person in our party did not receive their meal until they asked for it which was well after everyone else had already been served. To make matters worse, we were charged for items we did not order or receive. Additionally, when we made the reservation, we were told we could split checks as long as we informed the server. However, when we arrived, they had no record of our reservation and said they could not split checks as promised. We were very disappointed in our experience. Especially since we have been here several times and my best friend specifically picked this place for her celebration lunch. Unfortunately, we will not be back.

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. While our server was polite, the overall service was far from acceptable. Refills were inconsistent, as some people at the table received them while others did not. There were also several issues with our order. One person in our party did not receive their meal until they had to ask for it which was well after everyone else had already been served. We were also charged for side salads, but they did not arrive until later after being asked for several times, which added to the frustration. We ordered a kids chicken meal at the beginning for a fussy baby, but it was not brought out until 20 to 30 minutes later, after the gumbo had already been served, which completely defeated the purpose. To make matters worse, we were charged for items we did not receive. When I tried to resolve this, I asked if they could verify where the food item we were charged for had gone or who at the table received it, and they could not provide any information. Instead, the situation became uncomfortable, as it felt like I was being treated as if I were not telling the truth. At one point, when I questioned this further, I was met with a defensive response asking if I was calling them a liar. I also explained to the supervisor that I was a server for five years, so I understand how mistakes can happen. However, this was not just a simple mistake, it was a failure to correct the issue and make it right. Additionally, when we made the reservation, we were told we could split checks as long as we informed the server. However, when we arrived, they had no record of our reservation and said they could not split checks as promised. We have been to this place several times in the past and have never had this issue. It is disheartening that now there is a problem that they are unwilling to resolve, and because of this experience, they have lost my business. Overall, this experience was poorly handled from start to finish. Between the service issues, incorrect charges, and the way the situation was handled by management, I would not recommend dining here.

The food was good and tasty, even though I have food allergies to seafood, fish, and gluten. Our waitress, Gabby was very accommodating and had the manager come out and talk to me. My Boyfriend got the Box Special Lunch, and he chose the Zucchini fries and Seafood Etouffee. He said they were both delicious!!!! Gabby recommended he dip the zucchini fries in the etouffee sauce, and he said it was an excellent suggestion!!!! The patio seating was great, and we were seated on the North side, and had views of the Lighthouse(next door), boats, and birds.

I walked to the restaurant around 7:00 PM and waited in line for about 20 minutes. The host seated us at a pretty nice table by the window where we could see the lake and the lighthouse lights at night, which was beautiful. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant was comfortable and pleasant. However, the service and the speed of the food were extremely disappointing. We finished ordering around 7:30 PM, but our first appetizers didn’t arrive until about 8:45 PM — roughly a 75-minute wait. The grilled oysters were the first dish to arrive. The oysters were different sizes and had a slightly sour taste that I personally didn’t enjoy. The gumbo was actually pretty good, though maybe I was just extremely hungry after waiting so long. On top of that, the server entered our order incorrectly — we ordered three bowls of gumbo but only one was placed. During the 75-minute wait, no one came to refill our water except once. In the entire two-plus hours we spent there, our water was only refilled a single time. When I asked the server if she could check with the kitchen about the delay, she responded that they are “not a fast-food restaurant,” and that the restaurant is large with many dine-in customers and a lot of takeout orders. That explanation honestly made me a little uncomfortable. I understand this isn’t fast food, but even for a dinner restaurant the wait time felt excessive. As a visitor, I assumed maybe the dining pace in the South is simply slower, so I didn’t want to create conflict. Still, I personally dislike when restaurants prioritize takeout orders over dine-in guests — takeout customers only pay for the food, while dine-in guests are also paying for the service and experience. Around 9:10 PM, two main dishes finally arrived. The redfish was actually very good — fresh and flavorful. The zucchini was delicious, and the rice had a unique flavor from a dark spice seasoning. Another dish we ordered (stuffed crab with fish) was something my friend liked, but for me it felt a bit too heavy on creamy flavors — the crab, the fish, and even the mashed-potato-like side were all very creamy. Of course, that’s just personal preference. By the end of the meal, our second appetizer (the shrimp) never arrived during dinner, and the three drinks we ordered never appeared either — which was surprising since drinks are usually the fastest thing to serve. I don’t want to blame our server personally. She was actually very kind when introducing the menu and explaining Southern dishes. Although I didn’t love the explanation about the slow service, she later brought us some salad and bread. The bread was very good — though honestly I was so hungry at that point that anything probably would have tasted great. I also rarely saw her during the meal, which is why I had to ask about the food delay after waiting so long. At the end, when we were paying the bill, she brought out the shrimp and the drinks and removed them from the bill as compensation. I appreciate that she tried to make things right. I ended up still leaving an 18% tip because I wasn’t sure if this is simply part of the local dining culture, and it was 2+hours dinning. Overall, though, the management of this restaurant felt very disorganized and chaotic. The experience could have been great given the beautiful view and nice atmosphere, but the extremely slow service made the entire dinner frustrating. My friend and I even joked that maybe they were catching the seafood fresh from the ocean before cooking it, which is why it took so long.
