About

Seafood RestaurantCreole RestaurantAmerican Restaurant
Frankie and johnny’s restaurant was opened in 1942 by Johnny Morreale and his then brother in law Frank Gaudin. The restaurant thrived feeding hungry dock workers and merchant men who made a living working on th river. Besides the abunundant seafood prepared with care, the hallmark of this small eatery was Johnny’s warm personality and genuine love of the restaurant business. Today we continue Johnny’s mission by pursuing our one simple goal: to be the best neighborhood restaurant in New Orleans. Thank you for visiting Frankie & Johnny’s!

This was recommended by a local and it didn't disappoint. Our waitress Miss Terri aka Sexy Granny was so fantastic, attentive, and helpful. We had the seafood gumbo, chicken andouille gumbo, the crayfish basket, the ferdie po-boy, the French fry with debris, and the fried catfish. Everything was delicious. Every portion was more than you needed but you couldn't stop eating because it was so good. Highly recommend!

We went for lunch with a group of 10 people after an away ceremony at Newman and everyone was friendly and the food was delicious. I had seafood gumbo and the alligator sausage poboy. Everything had great flavor and was fresh. I would definitely visit again.

I wish I could give the service 10 stars. I also wish I could remember my servers name. Super friendly older gentleman. Not only were his recommendations spot on, but he went above and beyond to let me try a little sample of red beans and rice. As a non local I was unsure if I’d like it, and let me tell you they are fantastic. The Po-Boys here are huge and loaded. The gumbo outstanding. The sweet potato fries delicious. Everything we ordered was perfection. The waiter absolutely saved our vacation, when he learned we were from out of town and flying back in the morning he gave us the TSA breaking news. Because of that we were made aware of the situation and planned accordingly. Had he not told us we absolutely would have missed our morning flight. Can not thank him enough for that. Eating at Frankie & Johnny’s saved our vacation.

Food was incredible, patio eating was good. However, the service was not good. We were ignored after placing our order. The table next to us had the same waitress as us and she checked on them frequently, offered refills, brought to go boxes and was very attentive to them. They ordered after us and were all boxed up to leave before we even got our main food. The only attention we received was when we placed our order, when the appetizer was brought out and then again 40 minutes later when the food was brought. At that time we were offered refills to our empty drinks. When we were ready to leave, I politely asked the gentleman cleaning tables if he could ask our waitress to bring us the check. The only words I got out were “excuse me sir, could you..” without looking up he said, “I’ll tell your waitress…”. I’ve been in the service industry, the restaurant was not so busy that he could not look at me. Very disappointed. We purposely picked a New Orleans family type restaurant to visit since we are from out of town. We will not come back and I do not recommend if you’d like any sort of a customer service experience.
