- SPStephanie Patick4 days ago2.0recently had lunch at Don's Seafood in Metairie and unfortunately it was a disappointing experience, especially compared to how I remember it years ago. I ordered the redfish, which was $37, and the portion was surprisingly small for the price. More concerning, the quality just didn't match expectations. The gumbo had a noticeably strange flavor—almost off—which made it hard to enjoy and raised questions about freshness or preparation. This used to be a place known for dependable, flavorful Cajun seafood, but this visit felt like a step down in both quality and value. For the price point, I expected much More.

When we said we were leaving the suddenly had enough servers to get us in right away. Saw our server maybe 3 times. Food was mediocre. Crawfish platter had good variety & was good. Etouffe was not up to par. Gumbo was also only okay. Crab spinach dip was delicious. Kid's burger was practically burnt & flavorless. They did remake it a little better but still lacking flavor & even salt.

After being seated, our server came and took our drink order. A short while later she back and took our food order. It took awhile for us to receive our food. I was excited to try the food, but very disappointed when I got it. It wasn't even hot, and barely warm. The server never came back to check to see if we were ok, or needed anything else. When she finally came back she saw that the food was barely touched. She never asked if we wanted her to do anything or how she could fix it. We had children with us and they were getting restless so we just asked for the check and left. After all the good things I had heard I was really disappointed. Maybe we caught them on a bad night, I don't know.
