I saw an ad on the window for the Peanut Butter Paradise smoothie, which caught my attention. The price on the sign was around $7.59, which seemed reasonable. When I walked in, I told the employee I wanted that smoothie—but with a couple of small changes: remove the yogurt, add strawberries, and include one scoop of protein. That’s it. No other modifications. To my surprise, when I got to the register, the total came out to almost $12. I understand that substitutions can affect pricing, but nearly doubling the cost for minor changes is unreasonable. What’s more frustrating is that the employee didn’t explain the extra charges or offer any clarification—they just rang it up. It felt misleading, especially when I specifically ordered based on the ad in the window. I won’t be coming back. There’s a nearby spot right next to the gym that offers great protein shakes for half the price. I wish this business the best of luck, but for me, it’s just not worth paying almost $12 for a basic smoothie—especially not after every workout.
