  Tonight I had an opportunity to have a free meal fro Joella's Hot Chicken in Middletown. The atmosphere kind of reminds you of the typical fast casual which it is. The chicken didn't disappoint as it was spicy but well cooked. The mustard sauce was delicious as well taking back to a South Carolina flavored barbecue. Their mac and cheese was slightly disappointing as it didn't seem fresh bit pre packaged and just zapped 30 seconds in the microwave. The team was very nice and provided good service one thing I didn't get a picture of is banana pudding which I'll eat at home after the fact. I'd try this place again but get a milder chicken for sure.

  I had a great experience at Joella's Hot Chicken and was honestly happy to finally have a chance to write a review for this place. The atmosphere inside felt exactly like what you’d expect from a spot that serves really good hot chicken; casual, inviting, and full of character. For the lunch special menu, they offered both fried and grilled options, and I personally preferred the fried chicken. It had that perfect crispy texture that really hit the spot. I was also glad they had my favorite, Miller Lite, which paired perfectly with the meal. And I have to mention the fries. The garlic-seasoned fries were absolutely delicious. That subtle garlic flavor made them stand out and added a really nice touch to the whole meal. One thing that really stood out was the service. I wasn’t quite sure what to order, but one of the staff members (maybe a manager?) kindly walked me through the menu and gave great recommendations, which made the experience even better. I chose a medium spice level, but honestly, I kind of wish I had gone hotter. I ended up adding some Texas Pete hot sauce for an extra kick. But if you’re not used to spicy food, I wouldn’t recommend going too hard on that! Overall, it was a really enjoyable visit, and I’d definitely come back again.

  I ordered a cod platter with fried pickles as side. First the pickles were drowning in grease. I got 2 whole tablespoons of oil out of the bottom of the container. The fish wasn't fried with the right type of batter. Hard as a rock. Won't go back. They have gone downhill.
