⭐️⭐️ (and that’s me being generous)
I went to Chipotle for a simple meal, not an episode of CSI: Burrito Edition, yet here we are.
They forgot to give me my cup. No big deal—mistakes happen. But instead of just handing me a cup like a normal human interaction, the employee asked to inspect my bag like I was smuggling a fountain drink out of Fort Knox. Even after the bag search, I was still not deemed trustworthy enough, so my receipt had to be reviewed as if it were a legally binding document. Over a CUP.
Fast forward to getting home: my girlfriend orders a burrito and receives a bowl. Unless there’s a new “Surprise Me” menu option, that’s not how that works. So we drive back.
When we walk in, guess what’s happening? They’re actively messing up another customer’s order. Which honestly made the whole trip worth it. Nothing bonds people faster than watching chaos unfold while you’re part of it.
So to recap: forgot items, accusations, a burrito identity crisis, and bonus live entertainment. If you like your food with a side of disbelief and unintentional comedy, this is the place. 🌯🎭
I don’t usually write reviews, but after 15+ identical experiences, it feels irresponsible not to. This Chipotle at 21st & Maize (Newmarket) has somehow mastered the art of turning a simple burrito a 30 minute stand around fest.
Every visit follows the same script: dirty counters, a line that keeps growing, and exactly one (yes 1 single) person running the entire food line… whether there are 2 people waiting or 20. On this visit, it took roughly two full minutes to wrap a single burrito, which would be impressive if it weren’t happening while everyone else just stood there watching time slow down.
The employee heating tortillas appeared to be on standby for moral support only, offering no assistance. Meanwhile, the cashier disappeared into the back for about 10 minutes, leaving completed food sitting there getting cold while customers awkwardly waited, wondering if we were supposed to ring ourselves up.
To be clear, this isn’t a one-off bad day. This is every single time I come here. I genuinely feel bad for the employees who are clearly understaffed and unsupported, but as a customer, it’s exhausting. Chipotle is supposed to be fast and casual, not a slow, contemplative dining experience where you have time to reflect on your life choices.
Consistently disappointed… and confused how this location operates this way so regularly.

This location used to be great. Always kept up with the rush, kept the restaurant clean and kept the food quality up. As of late, I've noticed a decline in steak cut quality and a sharp decline in service speed. Two recent trips saw me standing line for near an hour with other patrons who did the same. With the design of the restaurant, it becomes interesting to opt out once you're in the cattle chute. The staff either despise their job, their management, their benefits, or all of the above, as evidenced by the response time and speed of serving each customer. Seems to be plenty of back-of-house support but only one person supporting the line with an occasional individual appearing to wipe down the countertop, rather than helping the one person preparing orders.

This review is along time coming. I’ve had so many bad experiences here over the years but yet we still kept going back. Only because it’s the only one on the NW side of Wichita.
Chipotle on Maize Road (Wichita, KS) is consistently awful and clearly poorly managed. The staff is extremely slow, disengaged, and unmotivated. There is never more than one person working the food line and if so they work just as slow, even when the restaurant is packed. Everyone else stands around moving at a sloth-like pace while customers wait. They are constantly out of food. Why?! Refusing to “make sour cream” at 8:30 PM when they’re open until 10–11 PM is dumb.. that’s your job. Even the cooks move painfully slow, causing long waits every visit. We recently waited 30 minutes for a to-go order that was never made. The place was full of people waiting, and only then were we told they were out of rice. No apology. No solution. Another time we waited 10 minutes for fresh carne asada, only for the employee to ignore the fresh batch behind her and scoop older meat from the to-go line instead. Completely pointless!! To-go orders are always skimpy, with very little meat. Full price for half portions. The restaurant is never clean..dirty tables and overflowing trash cans. And if you ask for a refund, they can’t do it in-store. You’re told to call 1-800-Chipotle, where gift cards aren’t refunded..only food vouchers and customer service representatives you can’t understand! This location shows zero respect for customers’ time or money. Avoid it!!
We are in shock from the experience we just had. Placed an online order for 11am pickup. We got there at 11 and waited for our order. We were asked 3 times for the name before being told they didn’t have it. The middle aged lady at the front (who would not give her name) insisted they did not have our order (but also that it could’ve been given to a doordasher?) and that we should call 1-800-chipotle and leave. Leave without the food we already paid for?? After telling us several times she didn’t have any record of our order she finally got a manager. The manager found the order sitting on the shelf behind the counter almost immediately. There was basically no apology for us waiting until 11:30 for the bag of food that had been sitting there probably that entire time. We get if it isn’t ready right at pickup time, but this was not good service.
