A wonderful experience at Bristol Seafood in Leawood this evening. First, the menu is amazing and the mini lobster rolls are a great appetizer. Madalyn was our server and she is attentive, personable and friendly and she always knew the right time to inquire if we needed anything, while we enjoyed our meal. She made sure our dining experience was wonderful as we were celebrating our anniversary. There was a young man who did not miss a beat making sure that we had fresh hot biscuits with the best honey butter to go with them. The mocktails were refreshing. Bristol Seafood Grill @ Leawood earned this 5-star review and we will definitely be back!!!!

I had an amazing experience at Bristol! The food was absolutely fantastic—everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. You can really tell they put care into every dish.
What made the night even better was Eric. His service was top-notch—attentive, friendly, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and it truly elevated the entire experience.
I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend Bristol to anyone looking for great food and exceptional service!
We started off with complimentary bread, which was crumbly yet soft, and the butter it came with was tasty. The plating for our dishes was great, and everything arrived hot. The main dishes arrived about 20 minutes after the appetizers were served. The waiter was nice, and although we were a bit underdressed, it did not affect how we were treated. Feel free to read on for a more in-depth look at what we ordered.
Oysters:
- Bristol Beauty: Solid light cold taste
- Royal Miyagi: Clean tasting
- Black Magic: Very fishy, I would not recommend ordering this.
- Oysters Rockefeller: A few bites had shell fragments in them. The seasoning was unevenly distributed, making some bites overly salty.
Mini New England Lobster Rolls:
- I enjoyed them as appetizers, but considering the price point, I wouldn’t order them again.
Swordfish:
- It was a relatively small portion with a chicken-like taste and wasn’t too dry. If you haven’t had swordfish before, its texture isn’t flaky as you might expect.
- For sides, the Lemon Asparagus Risotto was overly creamy, while the Roasted Carrots with Honey Sriracha Butter tasted as expected.
Char Crust Ahi Tuna:
- Tuna was drizzled in a Foyot sauce which had an earthy taste, but was overwhelmingly strong.
- For side, upgrading to the Lobster Mac & Cheese was definitely not worth the cost, it was also dry. The Grilled Asparagus with Tomato Basil was alright.
Seafood Mixed Grill:
- Scallops: Perfectly cooked in terms of texture, but salty.
- Shrimp: Juicy, with a subtle smoky char from the grill.
- Whipped Potatoes: Flavor-fine, on the drier side.
- Jumbo Lump Crab Cake: If you love crab, this is very crabby.
- Cauliflower Au Gran: The cauliflower wasn’t crispy but rather very soft and tender, with a light sauce.

For reference, we went here instead of going to prom. I really wanted to like it, but last night has pretty much confirmed we will not be returning. We had reservations for 7:45, and we were seated on time. Drinks came out, and we ordered within 5 minutes of having sat down.
Our food did not arrive until 9pm. No updates or anything, just sitting there for about an hour and a half. The atmosphere was great, and we got to talking, but this dinner ended up being so long and frustrating that we just went home after (we'd planned to do pictures, but had massively missed the time to do so). The food came out and was absolutely amazing, but we just ended up taking most to go. No drinks or anything were comped, and I asked for a manager once (who never came over).
Suffice to say, we just paid and left.
Parking was great, staff were friendly, but I never would have expected we would've been better off going to an Ihop.

When my husband and I decided to run errands we knew we wanted Bristol for dinner. It’s been 2-3 years since we have come so we were excited. It started from the beginning, we ordered JUMBO crab cakes for our starter. My husband had a yuengling and I decided on pineapple martini. The rolls came and were delicious as usual. My martini tasted like water with a splash of pineapple flavoring with no alcohol. The crab cakes have shrunk tremendously, JUMBO is not a word to describe a large cookie scoop of crab cakes, but were delicious as they always have been. The lobster bisque had way too much Cajun seasoning you couldn’t enjoy the creaminess and that flavor stayed in the back of your mouth. Then dinner came. I had the salmon which was good, you can’t really screw up salmon. My husband has swordfish with lobster Mac (see pics). The swordfish was maybe 1/4 inch thick which is disappointing in itself. It looked more like a pork chop. It is a more meaty fish and you can’t get that taste from 1/4 inch. The lobster Mac was dry. Like it had been microwaved before being put in its little pot. I decided to order another pineapple martini hoping my first was just a one off bad one. Well, it wasn’t. They didn’t have enough martini glasses, she said they were all dirty, so it was served in maybe a margarita glass that looked more like it was for ice cream. It was just as watered down. The waitress shook it before she emptied it in my margarita glass and it didn’t even fill the glass, she shook every little bit she could out, I’m assuming that is where the watered down taste comes from. Over $200 for our meal, the waitress barely spoke, gave ZERO suggestions, the drinks were a 0 and the swordfish was less than desirable. I can think of other restaurants to spend that kind of money. Can’t wait for our annual anniversary dinner at Eddie V’s. Sadly we will not be going back to The Bristol.
