My friend then checked out, getting her receipt. The manager approached us and demanded to see our receipts. My friend gave hers, and then the manager demanded to see the receipt for my items. I asked if there was a problem, and she responded that she was instructed to come over. After checking both receipts , there was no apology, nothing. As we walked out of the store, all eyes were on us, which was completely embarrassing, as if we had done something wrong. I was furious, especially considering I was treated this way as a woman of color. So, I decided to turn around and return my items. Only then did she apologize and stated that her employee had told her that she didn't see us purchase the items. Her apology was lacking, but her previous actions had already spoken loudly. When she essentially accused us of stealing and demanded to see our receipts, that was very loud. It was my first time shopping at this store, and it will definitely be my last.
