  This place Has been going downhill. Gave them yet another shot. My biggest disappointment yet, and to say my last. They must’ve changed the hotdog, because the skins were so tough. It was Chuy. And Don’t give me started on the bland roast beef. If you’re from out of town and looking for one of the best Italian beefs, Mr Beef On Orleans. This place will never get another penny out of me.

  I ordered the beef without a bun, was told by the server it is gluten free without the bun. It is not. The beef is cooked in gluten aus ju. I ate the beef, leading me to be very, very ill, as I have celiac disease. Very unfortunate this server misinformed me and now I am paying a terrible price!

  I love portillos. They're usually pretty fast and efficient. The food is always good. If you've never been to a portillos it is easily some of the best fast food in the Midwest. I often times have issues with the cashiers charging me for my fries and drink separately from my sandwich and I've had to argue with multiple of them to get the "meal deal" with my sandwich which is a few dollars cheaper and I would expect that they should automatically understand when someone says "I'd like a #1 with a large drink" that I'm asking for a meal. I've only had this issue at this location. As someone who has managed fast-food restaurants I understand it can be hard to train younger people, but this is common sense.

  Who is managing this location? I've been in the restaurant industry my whole life, I grew up in it. This location used to be on point. I've had issue with this location more times than not. However, this time is unreal and definitely not a mistake or an accident. I bought one chopped salad and in that salad was pieces of green scrubbie sponge and brown paper. At first I saw the sponge and thought it was an accident that unfortunately happens in any kitchen but soon after I'm finding pieces of brown paper. Now, I don't know what to think other than this is not accident. This was intentional. Employees at this location love to socialize with each other and I do not believe there is a manager most of the time. Clearly this wasn't an accident. Very disturbing!! The health department will be notified and I will share the objects that were found in my salad.

  Always has been a great experience. Last night I was especially appreciative of the staff. We were in South Holland attempting to order food and somehow the order was placed at the Merrillville location. No big deal, we recognized our mistake, drove that direction to pick up the order and decided to call them and inform them of this error so that they could preserve the order for us or hold off on packing it up if possible. We ended up being on hold the entire 26 minute drive to this location amd even still once we were inside. We asked then if the shake we had ordered could be remade as it was already sweating and melting in the cup by that time. They obliged no problem, then it was discovered the fries were cold as well, and upon asking for those to also be remade, the manager was summoned to investigate the situation. We explained to her that we were on hold the entire time (and even still at this point), she verified by picking up the line and explaining that the phone lines were not all coordinated throughout the store or something to that effect. Regardless, she profusely apologized and insisted on remaking the entire food order even after only truly asking for the fries to be swapped. Her gratitude despite both of our errors were greatly appreciated and recognized!
