Went there when it was really cold out. Had to wait 30 minutes by the door when they had a whole dining area empty. Took 20 minutes for the waitress to give us a menu. Took another 15 to get her to take our order. Waited over 30 minutes and still didn't get our food. Ordered queso which had lumps from the cheese not being completely melted. Ended up paying for our cheese and drinks then went somewhere else to eat. Called the manager Ernie the next day and he told me he would refund my money and take care of next time we came in. He never did refund the money. Really liked this place but the service and staff have changed along with the place being really dirty. Won't be back.

Worst food I’ve ever had.Ordered fajitas and they brought me a boiled piece of chicken on a bed of onions with a side of garlic butter not the fajitas they use to serve. Changed the menu completely and didn’t mention it. Told manager I did not like it at all and wasn’t going to eat it and she just said she would report the feedback. Didn’t offer any kind of compensation as discount or anything even though we left our food and did not eat it. $50 for food that was not eaten and will never return. Waitress was nice though.

Loyal OTB customer for over 25 years. Food has changed and not for the good. If it's not broke, don't fix it. People come back because they like certain things. Rice changed and is now like every other Mexican restaurant, bland. Staff is also a big reason we came back all these years. Change isn't always for the best. Know your customer base.

On the Border has been one of my favorites since growing up here. Made the 40 minute drive from where we are now to have it for dinner and was truly disappointed. Sad to see the changes to our favorite items. You could always count on having some of the best rice and now it’s a tomato mess of an excuse of rice. I’ve never seen so many tomatoes in rice before. Another item that has noticeably changed were the tortilla chips. They were the best big yellow corn chips you could find and now they are frail white chips that just crumble, half the basket was crumbs every time we got some. Thankfully the empanadas and tortilla soup were still winners. Service was also bad as it took 20 minutes for a server to talk to us (not busy but understaffed I’m guessing?). The order, after finally placed, did come out in good time. After so many memories here .. I’m sad to say I don’t think I’ll be making the trip again.

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time in a couple of months. They totally changed their menu, and dropped the items that we liked ordering. Service seemed to be fine, but since they dropped our favorite dishes, I don't see us going back. Very unfortunate since this was my favorite restaurant 😕. Hopefully Chi Chi's will make a comeback. On The Boarder just doesn't get it. We did not stay. You know what they say... if it's not broke, don't fix it! Honestly, I wouldn't give it 1 star.
