Food warm and fresh, service was extremely slow. We had ordered mobile curbside after waiting 10 mins in the spot after the app updated and said food was on the way i finally had to walk in and ask for my order

I went through the drive thru and ordered a value meal. When they asked me what l wanted to drink, l told them l don't want a drink. They replied that it come with a drink. I chose a drink and pulled forward. When l get to the window, they tried to charge me for a large drink. After a discussion, they begrudgingly changed it to a small drink.
Why are they adding and charging me for something that l expressly said l did not.want?
