  If you’re looking for flavorful food, I would not recommend this place. The refried beans tasted like they came straight from a can, and the rice reminded me of pre-packaged store-bought rice. The meat seemed to be seasoned with basic taco seasoning and lacked depth. The service was also disappointing. We weren’t offered any refills, and our table was only checked on once during the entire meal. After asking for the check, the waitress prioritized making drinks and assisting other tables before finally bringing it to us. Considering how expensive the food was, I expected much better quality and service. The only highlight of the meal was the complimentary chips and queso, which were actually enjoyable.We are very disappointed with the quality of La Mesa so we decided to go to oberwise to fulfill the void in our stomach.

  I really wanted to like this place, but it just didn’t deliver, especially for the price. The menu has a modern Mexican vibe, but the food itself lacked flavor across the board. I ordered the tacos al pastor and chicken tinga tacos. I understand al pastor can be tricky to get right, but aside from the pineapple, there was almost no flavor. No lime or salsa was provided either, which made it even more underwhelming. The chicken tinga tacos were juicy, but again, completely lacked seasoning, it honestly just tasted like plain shredded chicken. The only standout was the tres leches dessert, which actually had great flavor. Overall, it felt extremely overpriced for what was served. I’ve had far better meals at simple taco stands for a fraction of the cost. Disappointing experience.

  I recently moved to St. Charles from the city and stopped by after a Pilates class while waiting for a private session. One of the instructors had recommended this place, so I was excited to try it. Unfortunately, my experience at the front was disappointing. One of the women (appearing to be older) looked me up and down in a way that felt very judgmental. I was in gym clothes and flip flops, having just come from a workout, but the way I was treated made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I had planned to sit at the bar, but her tone and demeanor completely changed my mind. I did stay and place an order with another woman, who was kind and professional—I truly appreciated her friendliness. I’m hoping this was just a one-off experience, but no one should feel judged based on what they’re wearing. Because of this interaction, I won’t be returning or recommending this place.

  Excellent food and drinks! I didn't catch our waitress' name (young blonde lady ) but she was great as well! Just add a Happy Hour and it would be perfect!
