  Messed up my order twice. Looked at me and told me my order was fine after I deliberately showed them what they messed up. I asked for no pickles, no tomatoes, and no sauce on my bacon cheese burger. They gave me pickles, tomatoes, ketchup, and didn’t give me bacon on my bacon cheeseburger. Are you kidding me. Every table was dirty and sticky as well.

  Edited review : I'm making and amendment to my below review. I posted a negative review, and Portillos asked me to reach out and to discuss with them what went wrong. I have done so, and they have promised to : 1) provide me with a gift card for a second try 2) give my feedback directly to the store management in the spirit of constructive criticism. My sense is that they do want to provide good service. I understand their need for some patience on my part. The complication for me was that I was travelling through, the wait line was lengthy due to being at a rush time, and I was unable to wait. Sometimes mistakes happen. It happens to the best of companies, and when I make a public complaint I also need to provide a public kudo when then step up and acknowledge the error. I did not receive argument about my review, and they did not ask me to amend my earlier review. Simply just asked for a way to earn my business back. I have upgraded my review to represent the good customer service from Diana in reaching out to me. <Initial Review Below> I normally love Portillos, and have been enjoying their hot dogs for about 60 years. In driving to Chicago, I purposefully took a route that would take me through Springfield for lunch. I visited the Springfield location on March 5, approximately 1pm and ordered a couple of dogs. Not surprisingly, they were busy and the wait for my food was lengthy. I was bummed at the quality of my food. I opened my food immediately, and both hot dogs had completely soaked buns. Picking up the hot dog resulted in the bun melting and dropping off the bottom. I don't know if the buns were over steamed or if the person assembling didn't drain the components before assembly. Either way, who wants a mushy/ soupy hot dog? I get to eat these very infrequently now, so this was a major disappointment. I likely will not be back to this franchise.

  I will never go to this 0lace again nor will I recommend it at all. They got the order wrong I tried to have them fix it and they just gave me the same food again..Not a good thing...Manager just walked around avoiding me so I will let people know that...not a fan..

  "I finally stopped by to grab the Italian Beef Sandwich, and it did not disappoint! The food was great, but what really stood out was how the place is run. It is very clean, and the staff is incredibly fast and friendly. You can tell the management is genuinely dedicated to the customer—they make sure everything is handled well. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for a solid meal and great service!"

  Hot beef and cheese — no veggies, extra gravy — was just perfect, and the jumbo chili dog with onions again didn’t disappoint. Every bite was exactly what you want from classic comfort food. Beyond those favorites, there are so many other delicious options that make it worth multiple visits. The service was excellent too — friendly, helpful, and quick without being rushed. It’s one of those spots that hits all the right notes: tasty food, great portions, and welcoming staff. I’ll be back for sure, and next time I’ll probably try even more menu items. This place has earned a spot on my regular rotation for a satisfying, no-fuss meal.
