It seems to be at this portillo's that they do give you bigger portions than some of the others that I went to, their beef sandwiches have been poor at some of the other places meaning they don't give you enough as they show on the screen
This location seemed to try to match what was on the screen, better portions on there beef sandwich they are advertising
So...for some reason they always serve their bbq ribs upside down. It removes the char that's built. I finally asked if I could have them right side up. The order taker was confused so I said that's ok, nevermind. Instead they chose to call the manager to have me ask him "my crazy request". He treated me as if I were insane.
Do they serve hotdogs upside down? No.
Do actual restaurants serve ribs upside down? No.
The manager here doesn't belong in the restaurant business.
A Chicagoland icon. This Portillo’s has the friendliest workers and a fun, retro atmosphere. The walls are covered with portraits and posters that take you back in time. Portillo’s is known for their Italian beef sandwiches, hot dogs, and burgers, but their greatest creation has to be the gluttonous cake shake. It is literally an entire slice of their decadent chocolate cake mixed into ice cream to come together as a drink that will take you out for the rest of the day. I was able to taste the seasonal Chocolate Covered Strawberry Cake Shake, which was life changing. The milkshake was creamy, and the chocolate cake bits added a fun texture and bite. There were real strawberry pieces as well. If you come to the wider Chicago area, Portillo’s is simply a must try!

This is the best Portillo's! If you are having a so-so day, your mood will be brightened by the spunky lady with the red hair behind the counter. She makes everyone smile! Oh.....and the food is delish too, of course!

I don’t go to Portillo’s Skokie often because I’m usually sticking to my strict protein and macro routine, but when I’m craving a real Chicago burger after a long fast, this spot always hits. The hamburger with grilled onions, ketchup, and mayo is classic, hot, and consistent every single time. It feels like a planned reward meal that actually satisfies instead of making me regret it later.
The Skokie location runs smoothly even when it’s packed, the staff keep the line moving, and orders come out accurate and fresh. The dining room is clean, the energy is fun, and it’s one of those places that just feels like home if you grew up around Chicago food. Reliable, nostalgic, and still delicious. Highly recommend.
