  This place is all about nostalgia for me. I'm vegan now and was worried I wouldn't be able to find anything. I asked at the counter and they told me they have a veggie option with tofu, it's just not advertised on the menu. JMK, advertise it! It was good. You might get some more veggie eaters to come. :)

  Yesterday I called in to place a to-go order. I ordered the teriyaki chicken. When asked if it comes with vegetables, I was told yes. I also asked for yum yum sauce on the side. I was very disappointed with the meal. There was 1 slice of tomato and one bite of broccoli. There was some fruit, one grape, a slice of an apple, and a slice of something that resembled an orange or grapefruit. The amount of chicken was maybe 3/4 cup. The teriyaki sauce was on the side, which I did not ask for. No yum yum sauce was included. Also with the meal came a salad which was a bunch of lettuce with one small tomato. Lastly, I ordered an appetizer and a few minutes later they called back saying they were out.

  I had a great experience at JMK Nippon Hibachi. I went on a Thursday, so it wasn’t too busy, which made the visit even better. I ended up getting a hibachi table all to myself, so the chef was cooking just for me. That made the experience feel really personal and relaxed. The chef did a great job with the cooking and presentation, and the food tasted really good. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout the entire visit, making sure everything was perfect and that I had a great dining experience. One of the things I really liked was the drinks served in unique ceramic cups that you can take home. That’s a fun and memorable touch that you don’t see everywhere and definitely adds to the overall experience. Overall, great food, great service, and a fun atmosphere. I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in Rockford. 🍣🔥🥢
