  1st time at the new Plainfield location last night Sunday. Ordered a sausage sandwich, beef and cheddar croissant and a hot dog and OR. Sausage was raw inside. Good thing for Portillos I noticed it being raw or I could have gotten sick! Called and got an apology and they said I could come back and get a new one or they will issue credit for next visit. Since it was for our dinner I had to run back 2 miles to get new sausage sandwich. A bit of an inconvenience for sure but managed a slice of chocolate cake for their mistake and I had to ask for it! Everyone in the back seemed like chickens with their heads cut off. Got home ate sausage and not exactly done with a hint of pink still going on. Husband said his hot dog was good but his b&c croissant was on a bun not a croissant and was just OK. Well I wasn't going back again and he ate it. A huge disappointment with my first visit. As others have stated, go to the doggie diner, Culvers or even Bueno Beef! Get your act together or this place will fold sooner than later!

  Absolutely terrible service at the Portillo's Pick Up in Plainfield – this place is an embarrassment to the brand. Placed an online order and showed up before the scheduled pickup time, only to wait over 15 minutes after scheduled pickup time. The staff here are clearly understaffed, but that's no excuse for how utterly incompetent and unmotivated they are. The few employees working seemed completely clueless – struggling with basic tasks, moving like they're in slow motion, and showing zero urgency or intelligence in handling the chaos. No hustle, no problem-solving, just blank stares and half-hearted effort while customers piled up frustrated. I've always loved regular Portillo's locations for their efficient, sharp crews, but this takeout spot feels like they hired the bottom of the barrel with no training. Food was ok once I finally got it, but the awful staff ruined the whole experience. Avoid this location – drive to a real Portillo's instead. Won't return.

  3/3 times we’ve tried this location since it’s opened and all three have been terrible. Food was completely cold one time, burgers are greasy and taste terrible, service is soooo slow, no sense of urgency, the design is terrible-it’s a pickup location and the lobby is ridiculously small and people are on top of each other with only one girl working. Our orders are always messed up-forgot our drink today. They need to hire way more people. Would not recommend at all. Nothing like your traditional Portillos.

  Really hard to leave a negative review for Portillos as it almost seems impossible but of the three trips there so far, two have been sub-par. On first visit the beef was dismal with very little beef, hot peppers and the fries limp. Second visit I get home with the order to only find that my order of reg. beef and large cheese fry was a beef w/small fry, no cheese. This deserved a call and the manager was extremely fair on correcting the mistake 👍. 3rd visit was a cold pack beef order, can’t screw that up. Maybe it’s just the start up blues for a new location but they do need to improve because price and the Portillos name carries a much higher QC demand than the current product. Can’t say any negatives for the staff, it’s a drive thru and seem friendly.

  I've been here 5 times. 3/5 of those times, there's been a problem with my order. First problem was when they gave me a Coke that just tasted like syrupy water. Next issue is when I asked for a hot dog with only pickles, and when I got home, I discovered that I had gotten a plain hot dog. Note that it was around 8:30 PM, and there was only me and one other person in the drive-thru. The next time I had an issue is when they didn't even have hot dog buns. Additionally, I ordered large fries, and when I got home, I noticed that there was probably about half of the amount of fries that are normally in a large. I've been to different Portillo's locations several times, and I can't remember ever having an issue with any of them, until this one. It's also worth noting that the other locations I've been to are typically 10 times as busy as this one. However, the food is still good if your order is correct.
