Ordered a chocolate malt. Idk if there was actually chocolate in it, slight brown tint to shake, no chocolate taste, all malt was in bottom. Ordered a beef sandwich with sweet peppers, got spicy peppers

I haven't been to a Portillo's for probably over a decade. I decided to pop in for dinner last minute, and this place is just as good as I remember! Even the building is structured the same way! Talk about a nostalgia trip haha!

So I have never been here beforehand and my wife and I were able to get free sandwich coupons from a trick or treat event we attended. So screw it lets go! We pull up and parking is spacious and wonderful. As we're walking in an employee pulls up and takes a handicap spot black gentleman clearly not needing the space and wearing the company uniform. That pissed me off my dad is handicap with breathing issues but I was like ok maybe he is just going to be quick. We all go in together and he goes off to the side, my wife and I go to order and at the register the lady at the register was super nice and had a great attitude, older lady with Grey hair very helpfull. The other customers were happy and cheerful and we were able to let our 1 year old run around. The guy who took the handicap spot still off to the side playing on his phone, not a good look if your letting staff standing around in uniform on phones after parking in the handicap zone. We get the food wich was relatively quick, drive home enjoyed the enviroment, handicap guy still standing around. We get home and are ready to eat and my wife's food was not bad a basic burger with all the mixings. Toppings were kinda bad and we had to redo it so she could enjoy her burger, the staff put 1 line of ketchup down the middle I laughed but she was like thats insulting. Mine was a chicken sandwich all toppings on side because driving 20 minutes usually makes the food eh, but I go to put it all on and my chicken was half a breast looks cut by a knife and I would have been ok with it i get it but the chicken covered 1/4 th of my bread like a kitchen member cut my food and kept it while im over here making the best of a quarter of a sandwich. To top it off the only "topping" i recieved was a messed up tomato and a over sized piece of lettuce. No mayo asked for pickles and did not receive all in all id say if yall can do better ill come back but 1st impression we'll lets just say I got taco bell instead. Some staff were great others had attitude i get it cant be perfect but handicap guy and the fact i recieced a quarter of a sandwich not impressed. I have 1 more free sandwich lets see if yall are better than this or if yall are not worth the effort.

The atmosphere, lighting, and decor is fantastic! I have been twice and ordered 2 hot dogs with full toppings once, and a big Italian Beef on my second trip (primarily on accident, the kiosks aren't very great). It was actually the first time I ever had a chicago dog, and I absolutely loved it. The contrast of the cold fresh veggie and steaming hot hot dog was great. The big beef, I got it extra dipped (the one acceptable way), but I probably will be ordering the smaller option next time, it was a bit much. I also didn't get my hot peppers on it. Prices are just a tiny bit higher than your typical fast food, but this is most certainly a lot more of a premium than a cheeseburger. Service was great, I was greeted as soon as I walked up to the counter, and they were very kind and patient as I stumbled through the process of figuring out what I want for the first time. Overall, I would most certainly recommend, just avoiding the kiosks if possible.
