I would not recommend this location. I've been coming here for a few years. The cashiers and associates are very friendly, but management is something else. I've had several bad experiences with them but I'll focus on the most recent. January 28th I had a pick up order. I got there, parked and checked in on the app as usual. Typically they're out there within five minutes but that day maybe it was a glitch or something? I waited for way too long. The app apologized for the delay and prompted me to call the store, so I did and the annoying virtual assistant all these places have now located my order using the 4-digit code you get when you check in and said someone would be out soon. More time goes by, people are coming, getting their orders and leaving, but still nothing for me. I try chat support through the app, but every time I tried the app froze. I called again and prompted the virtual assistant to connect me to someone. It said "The mailbox of the person you're trying to reach has not been set up. Goodbye." Then it hangs up on me. I call the customer service department and tried to explain that drive up isn't answering but he cuts me off and says he'll transfer me. Sure enough it rings and rings with no answer, so I decide to just go inside. I go to customer service and explain what's going on. He asks me to go to the drive up area and he'd call someone to help me. Well that was a lie, because those people looked me in my eye and walked right past me. I even stood near the "drivers wait here" sign. The associates are working nonstop so I'm not trying to delay them, but the two managers (the people with black jackets and headsets) who looked at me and ignored me should have helped. Instead they meandered around doing nothing. I know because I watched them walk up the greeting card section towards the door then back. Lame. I stopped a young lady and ask her if she could help me locate my order. All of the adults on duty that day dropped the ball and here this apparent kid is being the only person to help. She seemed confused too, at first thinking I was Uber or I was just missing a few items, before I told her I checked in but was waiting for around 15-20 minutes. She tried to ask another associate for help, but that lady brushed her off. After searching for a bit she found all of my items and apologized. I decided to bag them myself. Usually they bag them at the car because I bring my own, but I just asked her to let me do it. At that point I wanted to leave as asap due to a mix of anxiety and being sick. Later I decided to give corporate a call. I explain what happened and told the lady I wanted to put in a complaint. Well that was a waste of time. She told me "Next time this happens call us directly," and basically said it's one thing for the customers to call the store versus corporate calling them. They'll listen to corporate but not us I guess. She said she'd escalate my complaint and that someone from the store should call me within 24 hours. It's been over 24 hours and I haven't heard a thing. They couldn't care less. Besides, what could they really say or do? I don't want a coupon. I just don't want to feel minimized like I'm not even worth a "Hi! Need any help?" After that interaction I started thinking about all the weird/bad experiences I've had at this Jewel. There's the countless times the store had a lack of items in stock, the times I got moldy or expired items. There's the couple times the self checkout system falsely accused me of stealing. There was the time a different manager mistook me for another customer and asked if I was "the lady who complained to him about strawberry cake." I wonder if maybe they didn't give me the time of day because I'm the wrong shade for them to take seriously. Now that I think about it not a single person who works there would fail the paper bag test (iykyk), and no the merchandisers don't count. I won't be coming here anymore unless I'm desperate and I'll be telling everyone I know to avoid this location. I'll just bite the bullet and go out of my way to Mariano's.

I do like shopping at Jewel because it is convenient for me. What I don’t understand is why they do not employ enough people there. Why does the consumer, after spending an exorbitant amount of money feel the need to have to bag their own groceries. I’ll explain why, because they never have baggers at each register and the ones that are there do not know how to bag groceries properly. Consumers are taking jobs away by bagging their own groceries. Jewel does not offer consumers anything for doing this. Aldi has lower prices, that is why you bag there. Come on Consumers. You are saving a grocery store that makes a great deal of money even more money by doing this. Let them hire more people and train them properly. This is the Jewel in Palos Heights, Illlinois.
