My husband and I had a fantastic lunch here the other day. We have been here in the past but it has been awhile. We plan to visit again soon. The food and the customer service was a 10+

Penny's is such a gem, and I'm so happy to have one in Oak Park. The food is INCREDIBLE. The chicken soup is hearty and big and perfect for a cold day. It is also the closest thing I have found in the states to authentic Thai noodle soup.

I have enjoyed pennies for many years and I really enjoy their food. But we did not receive everything in our requested order tonight. The Egg noodles were missing. We got everything else but The noodles

this place is trash all around. gentrified Asian food. Flavorless. Sidenote: spice does not mean flavor. spring rolls were also a poor effort. I had to add all my own seasonings and it was still very very bad. LOOKS good but that doesn’t equate to taste

Have ordered online and done pick up from Penny’s a few times before. It had always been solid. But today I decided to go in to the store and order pickup in person and wait. The person at the desk was very rude. I ordered from the kiosk, but then was waiting and having trouble getting anything to load on my phone, like it was a data dead spot. I saw there was a WiFi named “noodles” and one named “noodles-guest”, both password protected, so asked if there was a password. She was dismissive and said there was no WiFi. I was confused and mentioned there was a “noodles-guest”, which I thought was amusing if there was not actually guest WiFi. Now she turned outright rude about it which was not necessary. When my food was ready she said “here it is” and put it on the counter and turned away. Efficiency is great! But she never asked if I needed utensils, which I did, so I opened the bag to double check, which took about a minute because of all the staples used to close the bag. Despite being about 2 feet away from me while I struggled to check my order she stayed with her back turned the entire time and I had to request a fork or chopsticks while she was doing her best to ignore I existed (the place was completely empty of customers). To her credit, she did provide me with both and also two napkins! All of this to say, customer service here sucks, the staff is rude, and I left with this awful taste in my mouth wishing I hadn’t had to spend even the 10 minutes I waited in the store. But to make everything worse? The food was awful. The Thai Ravioli was so so so salty I couldn’t finish it and what I did eat actually gave me a headache. I had also ordered a side of Lard Nar noodles thinking they’d be soft wide rice noodles but they were actually deep fried - more like an empty wonton than a noodle. I guess that’s a choice? Fine if that’s how they serve it but a picture or description on the online ordering platform to set expectations would have helped a lot there. There are places nearby with better value, nicer staff, and I think also much better food!
