  Solid 3 stars. It was late they were the only place that was open, my kids wanted a family dinner. Soup tasted homemade it was good, burger was just a frozen patty slightly seasoned and fries weren’t crispy. We did not have desert but the donuts looked good. If it’s late next time and we want to go get some food most likely we will just get some pizza and drive thru. The table next to us had breakfast foods and in hindsight I should have just got pancakes.

  I really love Huck Finn Restaurant, I visit very often, sometimes even late night after hanging out with the ladies and we want some good food and coffee. The staff are really cool and great. It’s a comfortable atmosphere with plenty space and parking lot has quite a few parking spaces also. The have a room with slots and serve up fresh baked goodies. Mostly it’s affordable, the prices aren’t bad at all, I’ll forever stop and grab something to eat at Huck Finn. I’ve got all my family and friends coming to enjoy the service and food now. We always dine in.

  5 stars all around. After a full day of traveling, 3 hour delay in Houston due to the government shut-down, and shortage of air traffic controllers, we made it to Chicago. We got our rental and drove straight to Huck Finn’s around 12:00 am. I had the 2 eggs any style, with bacon, it comes with toast and hash. That hit the spot for me. Everything was so tasty, Oh, I added the chicken noodle soup. Everything tasted home-style. I am going back again this morning for breakfast.

  I’ve been coming to this restaurant for years. While the food has never been the best, I’ve always enjoyed the service and especially the coffee. However, during my most recent visit, I noticed something that really bothered me. My family and I were seated in the back of the restaurant, and I realized that most of the other families around us were Hispanic. In the main dining area, I noticed mostly white patrons, and in another section, mostly Black patrons. This felt very wrong and left me deeply uncomfortable. Since when is seating people by race or ethnicity a thing? I don’t condone that kind of behavior or environment. I’m disappointed and won’t be returning.

  Today, I visited Huck Finn and was initially seated right beside the bussers’ station, which was immediately overwhelming due to the constant noise and movement. I planned to ask for a different table once our waitress came by, but it took quite a while before anyone checked on us. Another waitress from a different section eventually noticed and asked if our server had taken our drink order yet; we said no. We could hear staff looking for our server, and while I understand how hectic a Sunday breakfast rush can be, the restaurant was only just starting to get busy - the rush didn't start until we were leaving... When our waitress finally arrived, my date politely asked, “Do you mind if we move seats? It’s a little chaotic here.” She replied, “Oh yeah, sit wherever you’d like,” so we moved to another section. The waitress in our new area was wonderful — warm, attentive, and truly made up for the earlier experience. I wish I remembered her name because she deserves recognition. Unfortunately, we overheard our original waitress talking with coworkers and seemingly mocking our comment about it being “chaotic.” That felt unprofessional and unnecessary, especially first thing in the morning. Overall, the second waitress turned the experience around, but the lack of attentiveness and attitude from the first one left a bad impression. I expected a bit more care from Huck Finn, especially knowing guests often come in early and just want a calm, welcoming breakfast.
