My friend and I were driving. Lost. Without hope. But then, we see her. A beacon of light, gently lit by soft yellow street lights, with her iconic illuminated purple bell flickering in the distance. Taco Bell. We pulled up to the drive-through, and that's when we heard it. The sweetest sound of our lives. A buttery voice coming from no other man but "Goku", the employee who served us through and through. He who went above and beyond to ensure we had nothing short of the finest, most brilliant midnight dining experience. He is every man. Chef, comedian, friend, brother, customer service expert, mathematical genius, and...artist. A true master of his craft, always going above and beyond. He turned what would have been just a midnight run to Taco Bell into what felt like coming home and feeling the culinary warm embrace of Mama's famous chicken n' dumplin' soup after a long deployment. The Bean and Cheese Burritos, the Chicken Chalupa, and the Avocado Ranch Crispy Chicken Soft Taco were to die for. In particular, the Avocado Ranch Crispy Chicken Soft Taco was delicious enough to make a grown man cry. Between the zesty blend of avocados, buttermilk, and a signature blend of spices ranch, the perfectly cooked golden tenders, the cold, refreshing iceberg, and the pleasant, daring, bold surprise of freshly shredded purple cabbage and lime-marinated diced tomatoes made this dish nothing short of perfection. In addition, the Pepsi was fantastic. It was so crisp, effervescent, and perfectly sweet and sexy that it felt like I was drinking a reverse burp. Lowkey moaned after my first sip. This Pepsi could've only been made possible by Goku's clear attention to detail and maintenance of their fountain drink machine, keeping it in pristine condition. Goku, the safe-haven that was this Taco Bell on a cold December night, the Pepsi, and the dishes that pleased without fail, make life worth living. They make this beautiful country we call home worth fighting for. And THEY receive my full "hell yeah brother" for their sheer dedication and commitment to excellence. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
