I placed my order and asked for a cup for water. 5 guys always provides free cups for water, in every franchise I've been in, including this one in the past. This time, both the person taking the order and the manager in charge said they 'no longer provide free cups for water' and the manager said 'people have to bring their own cups' to get the free water (bizarre) or they have to 'pay for soda cups,' for the price of a soda, even if they're just getting water. The manager said "this is the instruction they received from corporate. They no longer provide free cups for water and they can't do anything about it, as it's corporate policy." I knew something was off so I cancelled my order and left. We then called other 5 guys including in this area, who confirmed they do provide cups for free water like always. So, obviously there's not a "corporate policy." It is funny that they tried to blame "corporate" for their franchise's policy. Perhaps each franchise has different rules--and this one maybe wants to be cheap and make us pay for soda cups (even for water) to make money..... Okay, but at least be honest and don't blame and hide behind poor "corporate."
