  This Jewel-Osco location is often dirty, and the bathrooms are usually in very poor condition. The overall atmosphere feels neglected, and unfortunately many of the employees seem frustrated or unhappy, which reflects poorly on the store’s management. The app and “clip coupon” system is also extremely frustrating. The in-store Wi-Fi is unreliable and cell service inside the building is weak, so if you didn’t download the coupons before you arrive, you’re basically out of luck. Not everyone has time to sit and clip coupons ahead of time just to shop for groceries. Between the store conditions and the frustrating app system, it’s easy to see why customers may choose to shop elsewhere.

  Their bakery is fantastic!! Patty baked and decorated a sheet cake for an event we just had. The cake looked absolutely beautiful and people were saying it was the best cake they ever tasted. It was chocolate buttercream frosting with red velvet cake. Amazing!! Thank you so much Patty.

  Always check the expiration dates when shopping at this location. A few days ago I purchased something off the shelf in the clearance that had been expired since November. I bought this in late February. This is unfortunately not the first instance I've picked up expired food off the shelves, I've just caught it before purchasing. No area of the store is immune to this as I've found expired bakery items, produce, deli. Everybody I know has had the universal experience of purchasing fried chicken here and not knowing its gone bad until you've tasted it. This isn't employees being ignorant to the dates. These expired items are always in front and on numerous occasions I've seen employees check the items and ignore. Generally im not totally opposed to food that's only been expired for a week which is what's usually on the shelves if an item is expired, but 3 months going on 4 on a clearance shelf is obnoxious. Its likely an employee saw that it was expired and moved the already expired food onto a discount shelf instead of throwing it away and continued to walk past it for months. If you shop here, approach the deli with caution and always check the dates since the employees wont. +1 star because the sushi is good and you guys get your head in the game for that.

  Shopping in store is fine, but grocery curbside pickup is truly horrible. I have 2 small children so I do curbside pickup during the winter. Produce they pick is consistently poor quality. I have spoken to a manager about this before, when I received cucumbers that you could almost bend in half they were so mushy. However it doesn’t seem like much has changed with training employees- and the people who pick out items for curbside pickup ARE actual jewel employees, not a 3rd party. Avocados this week were 15 cents cheaper than Aldi, but I still bought them from Aldi because I worried I would get poor quality picked out for me at jewel. I have never had a problem with anything curbside pickup at Aldi, and I did not want to take a chance with jewel. I did however buy sumo oranges from Jewel because I Aldi does not carry them, and of course they are mushy. This weeks order also included 3 incorrect products, none of which were notified as substitutions. Now I will have to return tomorrow to go in store to do returns, which completely defeats the purpose of doing curbside pickup. It is to the point where I only do a jewel order when absolutely necessary, but I think at this point it’s also time for me to try a different Jewel. Even though this one is closest to our house, they are too inconsistent to be worth returning to.
