  Was driving down 120 to go to Jekyl’s but took a quick turn when we saw Leona’s that we didn’t know was there. We are from the city and are familiar with the Leona’s brand so we had expectations of it being the same. Other than some nostalgic photos, this was not the Leona’s we knew. The dining room is small. The tables on the perimeter are booths along the windows with small tables with two chairs by them. We were three people and it was way too small when the pizza came. They also have high tops which are probably better. This restaurant has only been open for six months but the chairs speak a different story with rust on the legs of the metal chairs abd warn wood on other chairs. The vents up towards the ceiling were very dirty, too. The bathroom was small, too, but clean. The service was very strange. We sat ourselves as instructed by a sign. The server was also the bartender, busboy, food runner - which is fine but we had to order at the bar and then had to pay right when we ordered. I found that strange. We ordered a sausage pizza and garlic bread. They forgot about the bread and instead of asking if we still wanted it, brought it after the pizza when it should’ve been served before as an appetizer. We really didn’t want it at that point but just took it to go. The pizza was really good for which I was very happy because the feel of the dining room didn’t give good vibes of anything being good. I may or may not have it again. If I do, it’ll be carry out for sure.

  We like supporting McHenry businesses. However experienced poor and slow service during our visit - Their website proclaims best pizza in McHenry - ehhhh. So so. Jexals on the other side of the bridge has much better pizza and top notch service. This place will be like many of the others that have occupied this building over the years. Unfortunately it will fail if it continues to operate like this. The writing is on the wall. Good luck Leona's - unfortunately we will not be returning.

  Leona’s Pizza did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious—true Chicago-style pizza made with care and full of flavor. You can really tell pride goes into the food. The restaurant itself was clean and welcoming, and the staff was friendly and kind from start to finish. A great experience all around. I’ll definitely be back! 🍕✨

  We ordered Italian beef egg rolls and a 10” bacon pizza. While the egg rolls were crisp on the outside, they were doughy on the inside and the beef had a mushy texture. Could not tell it was supposed to be beef. A definite Pass! DC Cobbs eg rolls are much better. The pizza, while better than a frozen pizza was still lacking. The crust appeared and tasted like it was a premade crust, not freshly rolled out dough. The cheese had no pull at all. The sauce was ok. The highlight was the bacon. In my opinion, the only good tasting part of the pizza. Overall I was hugely disappointed. I will not be going back.
