Chophouse is a nice small restaurant located in Mahomet. I came in with a group on a Saturday night, so we knew it would be busy. Our waitress had forgotten our food and also mistaken some of our orders. No one really came in to check in on us. Food was very average. Nothing special.
Overall, the food isn't worth the price.

I'd say that the food here was average, the service kind of slow, and the atmosphere welcoming. My partner and I were both not very impressed with our meals, although the food came out quickly, so the kitchen knows what's up. I will say that the steamed/seasoned broccoli was very good. The fried pickles didn't have enough pickle in them. The prices are too high for what you are getting in general. I hope that this place develops to its full potential in the future. I believe they have only been open for a year.

We really want to like it here, and we think we will over time, but they need a bit of help...
Menu is way too big. I say that, because the kitchen was quite slow. I also felt the menu was lacking doing the basics well for a chophouse. Tons of sandwich and appetizer options, but very few steak or quality seafood options. 8 oz Ribeye was decent, but not worth $38. I dont mind paying that for a steak, but quality should warrant it. It was a bit thin, tasted decent, grilled perfectly, but felt like a cheaper cut.
We love going to new places and checking out their cocktail menu for something new that weve never seen. The drink menu had nothing besides your typical list of common drinks (cosmo, old fashion, margarita, etc). Would love to see some unique offerings there (drinks using local liquors, twists on classic cocktails, etc).
Service was ok overall, but we could tell everyone that served us were new and learning. Took 15+ mins for drinks, 25+ mins for appetizers, and most of our food had something wrong but lots of simple mistakes (forgot dressing, no silverware given, no refills on water, baked potato not how it was asked, etc).
We will definitely try it again, but hoping for some improvements. Being a bit generous with 3 stars, but excited to be able to update that later on.

I rarely ever give bad reviews, but we had a terrible experience. I made a reservation for 8p and arrived on time, maybe a couple minutes before. We walk in and instead of asking us about our reservation, we were asked if we wanted to eat upstairs or downstairs. Not knowing they were COMPLETELY different menu/setting (our first time here so we didn't know), I said upstairs. We walk up and it's the same setting/tables as it was when it was still JT Walker's. They told us to seat ourselves (which is weird to say when you're recommending reservations like what). About 15 min in we finally get our orders taken and some water. After they took our order, it took about 50 min for our food to come. We were never given any utensils so I had to get up and take some from another table. We were also never visited by our waitress until she handed us the bill. So we spent $81 for 1 glass of water and dry food (my boyfriend ordered medium rare lamb chops and got well done and I got some dry, decent tasting salmon). The Mac and cheese was pretty good though.

What a wonderful experience on opening night! Amazing ambiance, food, and friendly waitstaff. Best Cesar salad we’ve had. Appetizers and entrees were spot on. Desserts were perfection. Will definitely be back and highly recommend. I wish you much success.
