I used to love this store. It was my stock up store. I frequently ( at least once or twice a month) return to my in laws who live down the road from it, despite living three hours away, and every time I’d stop here. We live in a small rural town where you can’t get much . Our Christmas is the second week of January. I was told they had amazing clearance and I was super excited. I filled one cart. In the past, I’ve filled more than one cart on just groceries, so one cart seemed fine. I save all year for Christmas. The amazing deals once I put rewards and coupons in were going to put me way under budget. I found tons of great clearance all over the store, and some amazing things for New Year’s Eve. However, my appearance isn’t what it used to be and so someone decided I was a thief somehow. She said me having a full cart was suspicious. As I was checking out, cops detained me . They said a woman (who had been following and staring hard at me ) made a series of accusations (that didn’t make sense), resulting in an embarrassing temporary restrainment, having to explain to my child and his siblings what an oncologist was ( they hadn’t known anything before this but that I was tired ) and that no you can’t be arrested for crimes you didn’t commit , not being able to use my discounts , a ruined New Year’s Eve party, and the Christmas spirit is killed. I am devastated. I paid my 900$ and left, as the bagger laughed and told me to come again. Come again? I want to talk to a district manager but the store said no . If I don’t soon, I guess I’ll have to have my attorney reach out not because I want compensation but because I need them to know and understand what this ordeal, which I fully cooperated with, put me through and the damage it did. The managers stories changed and involved things that didn’t happen and accessories I didn’t have that have apparently been part of other incidents . I was accused of going places I’ve never even been. She buckled harder on the lies and never even considered she was wrong until after the cops left. The item that started it all apparently for her was an EpiPen with my name on it sticking out a bit from my bag that she thought was stolen. It stays visible in my purse because peanuts , shrimp, etc can all be airborne and if I need it, I need it quickly . My system is weaker than usual too, so I can’t afford the delay even of seconds . Other problematic things in my purse Included toilet paper in a bag ( again allergies are stressful ) and hand sanitizer . I feel for the manager working in a stressful time in a changing world, but she kept buckling down until they saw my job and my medications. Imagine people asking you if your credit cards are yours , what your meds are for and why you have them, what business you have in a town that you’ve been active in for three decades, and if you have a suitcase in your distended abdomen under your hoodie . In front of everyone . Especially my child who was just as scared as I was . I had thought that trip was such a success too. Now, I don’t want to leave my house. This is my last attempt to reach management above Maryann. I get it, some people are thieves and that’s not ok. But not everyone who looks sick is a thief. Some of us are just sick people trying to pull off their holidays for their kids while they can.

I'm a bit miffed. I ordered a pork crown roast to serve at Christmas. They made one for me twice the size I ordered. Maybe they couldn't make a smaller one, I don't know. What we didn't eat, we froze some for later consumption, and I certainly will continue shopping at Jewel. Roast is delicious, by the way, just way too much for the size of our guest list.

Jewel is more expensive then the other stores in the area however the pharmacy and the variety of products you can't find in other stores make the difference. But if you didn't know this when you use the pharmacy and it's not a government program they give you a sticker and you get five stickers and you get 20% off your groceries. They don't advertise it like everything you have to ask I'm not from this area where I'm at right now but it's the same as any other Jewel I go to except some items are missing based on the local people here
