  The store is very clean and the employees are friendly and helpful. The store is well stocked and has a good variety of products. My only complaint and this is probably related to the fact the store is in Lake Forest is that the prices are expensive compared to stores such as Walmart and Target. For example Coco Krispys are 6.99 for a regular size box while at Walmart in Waukegan the family size box is 4.99.

  Jewel is a symbol of home for many in Illinois. It provides a sense of familiarity, and it’s nice to have consistency. I understand the produce and groceries will not always be right. But such goes the ebb and flow of nutrition in the U.S., a persistent demand for out of season nutrition. Yet, what Jewel can guarantee is help when it is necessary. If you understand hunger, you understand the following. I am certain many people have been struggling in recent years. I believe most people are grateful to Jewel for all fruits and vegetables sales. Thank you, for you give people the blessing of a full plate. But I write about Jewel in Lake Forest in hopes the company recognizes the constant grace of one employee, Janete. I hope you try to get the National Grocers Association to recognize her work. Because if any employee in the industry should be lauded, it is her. I have seen Janete work for years at the same location. She has stood all day during holidays, major games and little ones. And she has worked many of the beautiful days everyone else spends outside being free. And not once have I seen her break character. She has worked strong. She has had the answer to every colleague question. She has stepped in every time to help employees and customers alike. You wouldn’t know what her true opinion of anyone is because she treats customers with RESPECT. She is one of the last standing champions of true customer service across any retail sector. Perhaps her motivation for her mountain like professionalism, immovable, is not what I interpret. But her work ethic implies to me, I can trust her to help me. I’ve seen people buy food without hesitation, and I’ve seen people leave items behind because money was not enough. She will never diminish you by contrast. My observations happened over years, including the most recent holiday season. And as I have seen hunger grow outside the store, I have seen a community respond with kindness. And of course many people generate kindness innately. But everyone falters sometimes. And a good customer experience can change your outlook for the day. Janete, you remind everyone to be strong, to be kind, and to reach out and help. You definitely show up to work. I am grateful for your help. Thank you.

  The lady that was closing just now was increidibly rude. It was 11:58 and I literally just needed a notebook for class. She shut the door in my face. Never coming back lake forest college students look elsewhere
