  This was a good experience it was not busy so we walked right in and were seated. For an appetizer we order the fried green tomatoes, which was very tasty the batter stayed on the tomatoes which is not common. The lower wacker drive drink was good and flavorful. Salmon hash was ordered the potatoes was good and the salmon was moist. It accompanied a side of eggs and rice. The rice was good I added butter salt and pepper. Eggs were ok it was a nice size serving. Toast also came with my meal the toast was barely toasted with no butter. The French Toast it is was also ordered the French toast was good however the bacon was cold but the French toast was ok. The decor of the restaurant was festive and it was very clean. I would go back to try other meals.

  I am extremely disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. I made a reservation in advance expecting to celebrate a special occasion, only to arrive and be told the restaurant was closed for a private event. What made this even worse was that no one contacted me ahead of time to cancel or inform me of the change. This lack of communication is completely unacceptable and shows a disregard for customers’ time and plans. Being redirected to another location—especially at the last minute—was inconvenient and did not make up for the inconvenience or disappointment. Overall, this experience was frustrating and unprofessional. I would not recommend this restaurant based on how poorly this situation was handled.

  My friend made reservations for today (4/11/26) more than two weeks ago to celebrate her birthday. Upon our arrival today, the restaurant was closed. When we inquired, we were told that they were closed because a repass was being held there for a manager and to go to the location downtown. Toast It Iz never contacted my friend to let her know that they would be closed, she even called yesterday because she wanted to add an additional person to her party. Never once did anyone mention the establishment being closed. This was extremely unprofessional and for a party that was excited about trying the place out. If I live on the far South Side of Chicago, one of the reasons for choosing this location was for the convenience. Why would I travel know travel downtown? Will not go in the future or recommend.

  I’m extremely disappointed with my experience at Toast It Iz. I made a reservation for 12:30 PM for a birthday brunch, only to arrive and be told the restaurant was closed due to a private repass for a friend of the manager who had passed away. While I understand and respect the situation, what’s unacceptable is that no one contacted me in advance to cancel or notify me of the change. Instead, we showed up expecting to celebrate, only to be turned away at the door. We were then told to go to another location, which was much farther and completely inconvenient. By that point, my birthday brunch plans were already ruined. Proper communication could have made all the difference. Unfortunately, this experience left a very bad impression, and I can’t say I’d recommend this location based on how things were handled.

  The service was terrible, after about 30 minute, we had to ask for a waiter when he finally arrived his name is Richie H, with a attitude, our order was rushed not once did he ask us did we want something to drink we assume he was coming back that didn't happen, so after 5 minutes we had to ask someone else and we didn't get drinks until the end of our dinner, we ask for the manager 3 times because we didn't know what happened to our waiter, so about an hour our food came out 1 dish every 5 minutes, my chicken was cold when my fries came out real late, my granddaughter had a fish dinner they said they had to recook her Mac&cheese another 15 minutes, we asked the waiter at the beginning did they sing happy birthday he said no, next thing you know they singing at the next table, so finally the manager chris show up, I explained everything to him he let us know they was very busy and understand which is understandable but to be totally ignored by our waitress with a attitude is rude, the manager was very nice and apologize for everything, and by the way I didn't get my drink until the end in a to go cup, very bad service, the waiter showed up at the end with a different attitude boy bye, you don't earn tips like that.
